Default Will ZXR wheels fit the 250?

I'm a "better brakes" guy and, to be honest, I do NOT like the 16" wheels. What I want is to upgrade to ZX6R wheels and brakes on all corners. I know that the rear may be pretty difficult to facillitate but I'm willing to do the work if it's possible. I'm thinking that either the swingarm it's self needs to be widened or that ZXR swinger will need to be adapted somehow. The front wheel I think will need to bring over an entire ZXR front end so that I have the front suspension, brakes, and wide enough forks to accomidate the wheels.

However, in the mean time, I'm going to be working on adapting my Suzuki Bandit 400 wheels and brakes to the Ninja. If I'm not mistaken the Ninja 250 has a single 276mm rotor with a 4-pot caliper and the Bandit has a 320mm rotor with a 2-pot caliper on the front. I'm going to slap the Bandit wheel and rotor on the 250 with her stock 4-pot caliper. This will give the bike a little better and smoother bite and then I'll have the benefit of a 120/70~17 BT090 on the front. I'll have to machine an adapting bracket to get it to fit right, but that won't be a problem. Then the Ninja's rear is given a 193mm rotor and a single piston caliper as opposed to the Bandit's 250mm/2-pot caliper...so there I'm going to pull over boh the wheel and caliper and have the superior rear brake setup and a 160/70~17 BT090.

I'll let you guys know how all works out.

It can't be harder than having adapted R1 wheels and brakes to my 1987 Yamaha FZ600....

This is going to be my girl's bike...it's cheap, light, and super easy to handle. Before she gets to ride it, though, it'll out-brake and out-handle more modern bikes. Something about putting her on 25+ year old tech bugs me. If I thought there was a chance in **** of fitting my TL1000S wheels and brakes on the lil Kow, I'd be doing that.

...****...I'm just as excited about getting to tinker with her bike as she is about getting a bike......I'm going to have to remind myself that it's her bike and let her do most of the work...lol

Not exactly what you are looking for, but what you will need to do to get the results you want. Sounds like you will have to swap out the swing arm, since the old one is too narrow.

well it looks at the moment that the 250 I was going after I might not be going after. I asked the man earlier if the bike had a clear title and I was told "yes" but I have just found out that clear title is actually a rebuilt title. Rebuilt = not a clear title. I guess some people don't see it that way.

The damage to the bike is still existing and superficial, but the fact that the owner was not honest with me makes me not want to deal with him. There's no telling what else he's lied to me about.

On the other hand, I've found a 1992 Ninja 500 a LOT closer and for a LOT less money. I'll probably invest the same money into making it a nicer bike. On one hand it may be too big for the girl and I'll have to invest in cleaning the carbs up and lighting her to make her legal and then sell, in which case I'll make a nice profit...on the other hand, she may love the bike and it'll last longer as a beginner bike. I'll be investing the same modifications with the larger wheels and converting the rear to a disc brake, but it's all in fun.

...off to learn more about the 500...
