kinda hard to tell from pictures but, in case you need some different ones by the time you get here. I think I can hook you up with a set.

I have a tyre tread FETISH, Mayo, so I totally know how you feel about the Rossos not looking as good as the Contis. Actually let's face it, that tread is butt ugly

Can't say I'm too fond (always aesthetically speaking) of my Corsa III's either, but in all honesty there are very little good-looking treads out there in the supersport tyre range - the only ones that look pretty decent are the Dunlop Qualifiers, though I'm not hearing very good things about them in general! I must admit that the Contis definitely look mean - probably the nicest-looking tread out there for the last few seasons

Having said that, I'm happy you are liking the tyres. Can't go wrong with Pirelli. Made in Italy baby

From the looks of that tread, I would say you can COMFORTABLY make your trip without switching tyres. Will give you a good idea as to how many miles you can get out of them as well!

From the type of riding you say you do, though, I would definitely recommend to you to try out a set of supersport tyres as well. Chances are once you get used to the increased grip levels, you won't want to go back!

hey stefano, you say you haven't heard much positive about the dunlop qualifiers? I"ll let you know if you want how mine perform when i head out to deals gap this weekend- next week.. i've only got about 500 miles on them so far and they seem to be doing well so far.

Those look like they still have quite a bit of useful life in em compared to the ones I am having taken off tomorrow. I'll see if I can get a pic. I am doing just the opposite of what you did in March. I'm having Road Attacks put on in place of the Pirellis after reading how much you liked the RAs in other threads!! lol

They're a great tire, you'll like them. Tires have become kinda like bikes, too many good ones and not enough time to try them all.

In all honesty, most of the feedback I've heard regarding Qualifiers was related to OEMs, which as we all by now know, are substantially poorer in performance than off-the-shelf.

Of the few people I can recall as of right now who have used off-the-shelf qualifiers, the only "complaint" I've heard is the brusque turn-in from the triangular shape of the tyres (which for some is a plus, others a minus). Other than that I have heard positive comments with regard to grip and predictability.

If you can deal with the turn-in, I'm sure you'll like them. Make sure to share your thoughts on the boards

Off the shelf Qualies are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than stockers. Not bad tires at all. But for the price they are asking...The extra for Corsa IIIs are better.

Picking up the bike in about 90 minutes. Gotta get some break in done today and tomorrow before getting with a group on Sunday.

Here's the new rear (getting brakes too):

and the Pirelli that came off:

That pretty much echoes my experience so far. On my old 99 ZX6R the off the shelf Q's were nice. I think their geometry really helped the turn in on the heavier, bulkier ride, and grip was never an issue.

The OEM spec tire on our ZX10's? Not so great. If this had been my first experience with Dunlops I would have sworn off the brand all together.

well,
this past sunday was the death of my back tire.
friday i had gone to a freinds house and changed out my brake pads.
saturday was a leisurely day for me for the sake of being well rested for sundays grueling steamboat ride that we had to re-schedule.

last minute pre's were in play and i finally went to check the pressures on the tires before leaving.
front.....fine
rear....2.5# WTH????

a little rolling of the tire showed the culprit.
a small chunk of steel that is so small that i don't think i could photograph it.

what a bummer.

so as it sits now i await the dealer to open on tuesday so i can order a new rear tire.
i will leave the front on for my ride back home(mostly interstate) because i only have 3000 miles on these tires.
i will of course as usual plug the tire and use it for around town (off season)commuting.

so in regards to this tread.
i love 'em and will stick with them for this season.

next year....who knows????

Dang Mike, that sucks!
That's what, the 3rd or 4th in the past couple years? Man, we should just buy tread in bulk and save a few bucks a few times per year.

Well after my trip of course there was a small amount of a flat spot due to oh.... 2k miles of super slabs, but on the dragon, hellbender, and a lot of other roads i was on they worked very well for me. Grip was something i couldn't have asked more of. I'm sure i could have pushed them further but that was beyond my skill. Hopefully they last 5k miles. I have a little over 3400 on them so far. I'd take a picture of what they look like but i'm kinda lazy at this point. i would get them again.

so to go further on ...
i called the dealership on tuesday and they had a new rear waiting for me when i got there wednesday morning...
in and out in 30 minutes....awesome service in my opinion.

here is a side by side shot of the old tire(3k worth of wear)

not bad if you ask me!!
closer!

i did my best to get a pic of the small chunk of steel i found in the tire on sunday morn.
believe it or not.
this little piece cost me a nearly 500 mile round trip!!!

so...what do you do with a brand new tire????
you call up your fastest friend and chase him around for awhile.
here is what you get 150 miles later

just about done with that pesky chicken strip!!!
