i may be a convert myself!!! 1.because the dealership almost always has these treads on hand. with my luck i usually need tread quickly for the invaders that typically fail my back tires before they are done!! 2.they handle a whole lot better in all aspects of riding that i have endured. for example. y'all know that recently i had to replace the rear just before my trip to illinois!!! i kept the front because it looked to have life left in it!! here are a few pics.... front with better than 6k for mileage!! ![]() you may or may not be able to see the somewhat flat spot here!!! ![]() here are couple shots of the rear ...3k in mileage so far!!! ![]() a somewhat noteable flat spot here, but keep in mind that the trip to illinois was mostly highway miles(2700 round trip) and very few twisties to name.....c'mon...illinois!! ![]() about the only complaint i may find with these treads is that i have found that you may have to keep a closer eye on the pressures...tend to lose a bit over a small period of time. i found that after checking them before i left for illinois and the day i was to leave(9days)that i had lost better than 6# of pressure!! this may have also been attributed to the change in elevation...IDK. also another experience i was able to endure!! when we left out of stuart, iowa on our second day,we had the grand oppurtunity to see just how well they handle in the rain.... ![]() for an hour and a half we did our best to get ahead of the storm. riding to beat the devil...so to say. never was there a moment of slippage, nor hydroplaning. on one ocassion i encountered a low bridge with at least 5 inches of standing water that we plowed through with no problems.....at better than 70MPH not even a wobble. the force was enough to nearly tear my boot from the stirrups, but all i got out of it was soaked feet ride on pirelli brothers....ride on |

i'm going to do my best to be true and to the point in this post!!!
I'M SINGING PRAISES,SO PAY ATTENTION!!! i have finally swapped out the pair of "strada's" that i have been using all summer. remember that i was forced to swap out the back tire unexpenctently. final ### stand as : front tire 9200+ miles rear tire 6200+ miles here are the pics of progress!! tires are off the bike and ready for swap... ![]() ![]() notable flat spot on both... ![]() swap done and ready to place new tread on the bike!!! note the difference in the amount of tread from new to old!!! ![]() ![]() more comparisons.... front!!! ![]() rear!!! ![]() on the bike and looking good!!! ![]() more and to the point i wish to point out a few things!!! the front withstood 4 "mini" track days. the last of which was near the 9k mark for the front tire. i will most likely never be referred to as the fastest guy out there(nor will i asspire to be),but i do well to hold my own. here is a pic that was taken during my last track day when i was nearing the 9k mark on the front tire!!! ![]() there are a few videos of me running this "mini" track and i can say that i thought that i lloked good for a "slow old man" be gentle...this was from my first time there!! YouTube - Z1K with blueflame EVO3's and a second one 2 visits later!! YouTube - IMI-072308 now i'm just gloating and i know it. down to the hard ### depending on what was in store for the ride of choice i picked a decent tire pressure to run!! typically 2-up was 38.5/37 single riding was 35/33.5 track day events were 34/31 i may try to lessen the amount during track days in the future.... it's all in the test and show!!! so to sum up. i believe i have found a new almost all-purpose tread for me. grippy enough to handle the twisties, but strong enough to handle the daily commute. not everyone want to buys 4 sets of tread in a season. any question's class??? |
