Hey bros, i was just wondering, this is my first year a a rider and i had a few questions. For one i am 6.1 and 250 lbs. Yes i know it seems im too big for a 250R but i figured since they made it a little bigger in this year's model i could maybe give it a shot. I heard that the wieght limit is 300 lbs. (i obviously wont have a passenger) and so i was wondering if I would still be ok considering my size with handeling and what not. Please reply back with some advice on the 250R and what not.
Thanks bros. |

you'll be fine im 6'0 and pushing 200 and my ninja 205 fits me just fine. If its your first bike i would considering going with an old used 250 since you can get them dirt cheap off ebay or used dealers and after you drop it a few times will be able to sell it for nearly what you paid to buy it. But thats just my 2 cents on the subject

650R...You are too big since your weight will clip the power more than you think. I don't know where you live but that will effect you somewhat.

If 4K is your budget, look at buying a used older model Ninja 250. At the $3500 MSRP, you might be hard pressed to even get the new one OTD for 4K. Dealers in California are selling them for over 5K from what I hear. In any regards, you can get a used older model 250 with some life left in it for under 2K, which leaves you some money to spend on gear. You might even locate a used 500 within your budget.
FWIW, don't get too wrapped up in looks... it will probably be your first of many bikes. When you're out rolling around enjoying your bike you seem to forget about scratches, how old your bike looks, etc. Or at least that is my experience. Have you looked into the MSF course yet?

yeah i have looked into the course, that is if your talking about the basic motcycle riders course (which i have yet to take) but i do want something new and im just wondering though that if i do get the 08 250R if their is going to be any severe issues in terms of if the handeling will be messed up or something like that.

Read reviews on the bike before you make your purchase.
