375 weight capacity for the bike, so my son at 75lbs and me at 250 isn't going very far together on it. Makes the bike work hard pretty to run. Great for single rider though.

Default nice bike, but may be hard to find

the 2008 Ninja 250 is a very nice bike, but it may be hard to find. Apparently there are none left in Canada, and few in the US. Dealers here are now preselling 2009s.

My wife bought a 2007 Ninja 250 last week, with less than 300 miles on it. She is enjoying it very much. I am surprised how much lighter and smaller it is than my Ninja 500

the 250 is a great bike to start off. Has a lot of power and is great to learn off of.

people who even ride the larger bikes still have fun on the 250s you may get bored with it if you dont have many curvy roads to ride on though, but its great to learn on. If you can get a hold of one buy it! if you get bored with it in a year then resell it , they have a great resale value.

Good luck with that bike at 230lbs and two up on a highway...You must live in the sticks if you think that is safe.

You will never take it on a highway? Anyone who rides will eventually hit a major roadway. I don't know where you live but that is a statement not to many people will make once they start riding for a while.

The 250 is a great little bike, but I might recommend at least looking at something else for someone your size. I'd suggest finding something used. Nothing like dropping $3.5k on a bike only to drop the bike and have it only be worth less than $2k in short order.

If you're just learning how to ride, forget up riding 2 up for awhile, and just learn how to ride well first.

i plan on graduating on up to a bigger bike eventually, i just want to learn on an easy bike and the 250R looks good to start on solo

i have a 2004 ninja 250 its not my first bike but i love it an im 250lbs. even with how big i am its still fun an fast. i love the way the new 250s look but i met someone who had one an i was talkin to him an he said he only gets like 50 to 60 mpg. i get almost 70 to 80 mpg. an his isn't as fast as mine the kid was half my size an he said it wont go over 97mph . I've gotten mine to 110. it took a little bit but it did. an i still had RPMs to go. if i were you i would go with a used bike not a brand new one right off the bat.

I am 210 lbs. All I had to do to make it comfortable was adjust the rear shock. Very nice ride - plenty of power for a beginner or just commuting.
