Default top speed eliminator??

I just got an 08 zzr600 last week. i been looking into different exhaust kits when i came across this...
TOP SPEED
ELIMINATOR
Timing Retard Eliminator-
Eliminates top speed restrictions set by factory
are there actually governors on bikes? and if so would i notice anything on a 600... not that i need to go over 150 plus my bike is still in the break in period.. but i was just wondering.

As far as I know, there are no motorbikes with governors, unless they are specifically sold/marketed as such (for example, in Europe you can buy various bikes with governors so they can be used by 18 year-old kids who are still restricted to using bikes with a certain power output).

You don't need to worry about anything.

i know in some countries your bike will be governed untill you get your licence, you can actually get ticketed if you take the governer off the bike.( bikes like the aperilla 125) but as far as the zzr600 it shouldnt have one.

The big bikes are now all electronically limited to 300 km/h.

I believe the ZX14 is governed at 186 mph. Thats still hella fast but if u wanna go faster there are ways to eliminate it.

Yes, the big 4 came to an agreement a few years back that all stock bikes would have a governor at about 190 mph i believe.... its a much prettier number in km/ph but the ZZR is not governed.

That is interesting, I did not know about that.

I think it's going to be short-lived though, now that the F4 MV Agusta goes 312 km/h.

It's the same thing as when the Japs decided years ago that they were not going to produce cars which exceeded 275 hp. It lasted a few years, now Nissan has come out with a 450+ hp STOCK Skyline, Subaru and Mitsubishi are dishing out 300 + hp Imprezas and Lancers STOCK...

At the end of the day being able to market a bike as "the fastest production sportbike", as has been done in the past with first the Honda CBR XX and then the Suzuki Hayabusa, is a definite selling tool.

The TRE will make your bike's throttle respond like you are always in 3th or 4th gear....So it increases power in the lower gears...Am thinking of getting the GiPRo which is a TRE and gear indicator. More for the gear indicator.
________________________________
"The TRE is a device which allows much better throttle response in the first 4 gears on all EFI sportbikes that they are manufactured for.

What the manufacturer has done is to make a SEPARATE IGNITION MAP FOR EACH GEAR.
This has been done for either safety and/or emissions reasons. However, it limits the power and smoothness of your bike in the first 1/2 turn of the throttle in gears 1 through 4.

They were clever in the design of this timing retarder. It still allows full timing at full throttle. As you shift up through the gears, the amount of throttle needed to access the advance curve decreases, until you make it into 5th gear and then it's gone. You have nice, smooth operation. Wouldn't you like your bike to respond just as smoothly in the lower gears?"

well worth the money. Ivan has them for the 10 04-05' that i know. not sure if he has them for the new 06' tens.

Only the ZX-14 and the Hyabusa have top speed limiters...an agreed top speeed of 300kph/186mph...the top speed eliminator and the TRE are diff items. The agreed top speed is some European Japanese agreement that filtered over here!

Timing retard removal (othwerise on your bike known as K-TRIC) will make the bike accell faster, there is no speedlimiter on a zzr600.

ugh, we're such forgotten stepchildren.
so does the ZX-12. Nothing a bonneville box won't cure though

They put one on a zx-14 in SSB (superstreetbike magazine, in the long term section) and said it was the best $70 investment made to the bike by far and well worth the money. If the f4i or zzr had one, it wouldnt go faster anyway, need gearing!
Actually, your zzr is still carb'd anyway, no electronic fuel injection to change (or fuel mapping as referred to here) so buy a jet kit and a pipe.
