I was in the same situation until TODAY! when I got mine in.

It's almost always on back order no matter where you go, so if you have your heart set on one, put a deposit down, mine was $100 for them to hold one for me when it got here.

I was lucky enough to only wait a little over two weeks to get one after putting a deposit down. But there are lists at other dealerships that are a month long.

I was told that it would take 6 weeks to get mine from a local dealership near me.

I am going to call some places today and see if anyone has them or if I can get it sooner then 6 weeks.

Being that the 08's are a hot item and hard to come by and there are plenty of 07's left in the showrooms, does that mean one can get an 07 for CHEAP?

the way dealerships work is, if you want it, its going to cost you more then you want to spend because they know youll buy it.
i hate stealerships.

Supply and demand at its best !!! i was told by one dealership he had one but he wanted 5500 for it ....i laughed at that i told him i got quoted at 4400 and the shop near me ..the guy was like "well let me educate you on a few things" .....WRONG ANSWER !!!! I
get how the game works ...you want a PS3 when they come out you pay 1100 bucks or you wait or get lucky.

i was one of the lucky ones and found my bike just in time at another one of my favorite shops Tuff Powersports (formerly Tuf Racing) in DeKalb Illinois.
ive had a good history of buisness with them and got my bike at a
"just fell of the truck" price.
I walked out all said and done with the 08 250R , a Bell Apex Helmet , Kawasaki t shirt ,canyonDancer tie down And Moose straps and a half a tank of gas for 3984.00 !!! (paid in full no finance)
so 3900.00 is a real decent price if you ask me...
dont get hustled out there.. some of these dealerships really dont care about the customer . Find a good honest store that wants to help you get on the road and enjoy the new bike YOU want rather that fill thier pockets while tryin to sell you something bigger faster and its "for just a little bit more bla bla " ... Play the game dont let it play you

Me and my gf called around to numerous dealers till we found one that had on delivery by May-June. The best bet is just to find a dealer getting one in, put a deposit on it, get the credit approved then just sit and wait they get it in.

I orginally wanted an '08, but between the long waits and minimum $4400 OTD prices, I decided a leftover '07 for $2953 OTD was a better deal for me. My only real sacrifice is that I wanted blue but had to settle for black or silver...so black it is. There was one blue left but it was 90 miles away.

I got lucky when I went to a dealership here in northen Illinois to look at the ninja 250r, they had a green one in the showroom that just got there that day or the day before and now it is in my garage with 33 miles on it. Got it for 4400 otd with a 5 year unlimited mile warranty, he gave me the bike for 3199 plus all the bs and the warranty was 400, so 4000 otd for just the bike.

Luckly I acted early. I paid cash for mine (about $3700 and change) OTD back in December but had to wait until February to pick it up. I think I got the first or second one at my dealership (I got the black one).

Insurance companies could care less if the bike is financed or not. I'm not sure where you got that info from? If you want you can have low coverage such as liability only, but otherwise the price is the same for coverage regardless of if you own it or the bank does.

In VA if you have a lien (owe the bank money), you are required to has a coverage for everything with a minimum of a 500 dollar deductible.

Hey bortherskeeper, keep calling around. I was in the same boat as you. I had a deposit down to get one mid-may at one dealership in the TwinCities, but they kept pushing the delivery date back on me, so I kept calling other dealerships until I found one that had a blue one that someone backed out on. Had to drive it home over 100 miles (screw the break-in period, huh?). I am very, very happy that I got it.

I really liked the style...oh well tho, its a bike that will eventually need to be upgraded to a new one..should get at least 2 back for it. *sigh* Gonna use the heck outta it before i get rid of it.
