No, the zzr600 is not a Ninja. But it gets confusing because the ZX14 (Ninja) is marketed in Europe as the ZZR1400. If you're asking from an insurance point of view you'll have to give them the actual model name and they should know what they're looking at. Even then some ins. comps are stooopid. I tried to get a quote from AllState on my ZZR1200 and since the model name starts with 'zx' they flat out told me they could not insure it. Little did it help that I explained to them they were confusing it with the ZX12 and that I knew other people in my state that did have the same bike insured with them. They lost my business and I took my cars and my home insurance with me.

What is now the zzr, used to be a ninja, but is not badged as such any longer.
About 10 yrs ago I had a 95 Ninja ZX-6E, shortly thereafter kawasaki changed the name of that model to zzr.

actually, clausim is wrong. The zzr600 IS a ninja, if your talking about 05+ model years.
the zzr600 is a rebadged, repainted version of the 2002 zx6r ninja. So yea, it is a ninja, and many people still refer to it, the model number is and always will be zx600j, no matter if you rlooking at a 05+ zzr, or a 00-02 zx6r ninja.

The ZZR600 is NOT a Ninja because Kawasaki does not market it as a Ninja. I realize it's essentially the same bike as the older ZX6 and as I said if the question was for insurance purposes it would likely be the model number that would matter anyway (although they all differ - with State Farm for example, only the cc's matter). But it an insurer asks if it's a Ninja, the answer is still NO.
From Kawasaki's product page: ![]() Kinda funny that the 650R is a Ninja and the ZZR is not, but I've never claimed to understand marketing ![]()

Thats an insurer, hes talking about online resources/parts, if it says zzr600 ninja, then it isa part or resource for the zzr600~
also, the model number for both the 00-02 zx6r and the 05+zzr is the same, zx600j~
