Who out there wears sun glasses under their helmets? I have a tinted face shield and I am looking into some sunglasses cause it gets hot and keeping the face shield up after stops cools me down faster. I wanted more wind to hit my face (feels good). I Know on the freeway I will put the visor down, cause I don't want to get hit with debris.
Any Pros/cons? What kind of glasses fit well underneath your helmet?

I have a tinted shield and wear sunglasses, for the same reasons.
When I'm in town or going slow I like to have the shield up. Works out well for me because my helmet lining is tight enough that the lining actually holds my glasses up off my nose so it doesn't feel like I have glasses on. I have 3-4 pair I wear and haven't had trouble with any of them feeling uncomfortable.

thin armed sunglasses that are light weight are best. I wear them for the same reason and wear my clear ballistic glasses at night.

Mine are prescription.
I wear sunglasses instead of the tinted shield because it is easier to change glasses than it is to change shields. PS- Don't ever wear polarized glasses behind your shield. Yuck!

I have a pair of Smith Sequel glasses with interchangeable lenses; I use the darkest, polarized lenses for sunny days, the rose lenses for overcast days, and the amber lenses for twilight. I actually bought a second set of frames so I could keep the amber lenses in one set and switch more easily at the end of the day.
I find it's a great benefit to be able to ride with the face shield up when I get to lower speed (usually 25-30 MPH); any faster and the bugs and road debris are a bit too obnoxious. And yes, the polarized lenses do cause some trickery behind the shield, but IMO it's worth the trade-off. |

Ain't that the truth!!!
Talk about psychodelic flashbacks!!!I always wear sunglasses in my helmet. But I also only ride with a clear shield. I keep a pair of clears in my jacket pocket, so when it gets dark I can just switch over. Most sunglasses will fit just fine. Just make sure they are comfortable inside your helmet, and don't 'float' too much off of your face. A good pair of sport-style glasses usually works best.

No glasses...Depends on the day. I have tinted helmets, iridium helmets, clear helmets, and my sun glasses are in my backpack.

$3.95 at the local hardware store. I use them as well. Very comfortable and plenty dark.

Sometimes I wear shades underneath for the same reasons. I don't wear prescription glasses, so it's just whatever shades I have at the time, which are almost always lightweight with thin arms.
I like Mayo's idea about safety glasses though. That makes a lot of sense.

I wear safety sunglasses from Lowes when I have the half helmet on. For the FF helmet, I don't because it's a pain to put them on and take them off along with the helmet. I prefer a tinted shield.

I wear Oakley Whiskers with polarized lens and my helm has a clear UV blocking shield. I have bad eyes so i wear contacts and cant ride w/o some kind of sun protection hurts to much. The only down thing is you have to take them off before you remove the helm and put them on after u put on the helm. Other than that they look good and keep UV's out of my eyes.

I have glasses, but they are clear so I have something to put on if I'm out later than expected. They tuck under my seat easily when I don't have any luggage on to carry spare face shields. I think it is important to have some kind of impact resistance rated glasses as things can and do hit you in the face.
I bought mine after coming home late one evening with my silvered face mask on... I was flipping it up and down on the way home and had just flipped it down when a bug/rock/object of some sort impacted right in front of my right eye. It sounded like a very solid something and had it hit me in the eye... who knows? Anyway there are motorcycle specific glasses, that is what I would recommend. They are impact rated and designed to fit comfortable with a helmet. Helmets/Eyewear > Goggles and Eyewear :: New Enough, LTD
