Default bike riding rough

I got on my bike, a 2005 ninja 250, today and noticed the motorcycle riding rough. when I would accelerate, i felt as if the bike was sputtering, (but not as bad when your low on gas). it would get a little power, the it would release it. it felt like i was being rocked back and forth continuosly. I tried upshifting or downshifting, but nothing relieved it.

I checked my oil and to see if i had gas, and everything checked out fine. any ideas?

possibly some bad gas. run the tank empty and go fill up at a differnt gas station. Or could use a carb cleaning. But thats where i would start off at.

Was the bike sitting for a while before this ride, like a few weeks?
