Default 92 ninja 600R carb won't stay connected?

hi, i have a 1992 ninja 600R and i got this little problem. My carb won't stay connected to the airbox.... there's something wrong.... the best I came up with is that the carb doesn't stay where it's suppposed to, it actually bends the little hoses connected to the head (under the weight of the carb) and forces the carb to come off on the other side (at the airbox). also, I can't see anywhere that the airbox is secured in place, so the airbox tends to slide backwards and disconnect from the carb that way.... anybody know anything? maybe dealt with this before?

I don't have this problem, and I have an '89 600R. Have you checked all the bolts and mounts?

I think on that model there are springs that hold the air box onto the carb. They need to be pulled down over the seal for it to stay on. Kinda of a ****py way to secure it but thats how I've see those old ones work.

Dump the airbox and get filters, that airbox is nothing but a restrictive pain in the *** anyway.

Do filters provide more airflow than the stock airbox? If so, is the air/fuel ratio significantly affected? Or can you get away without jetting it?

Yeah you'll probably have to drill the jets, and get some shims for the needles. but hey for me it was worth the effort not to have to mess with the airbox anymore.

i got this all taken care of, what I did was move the carb over to the right some more and leave a little bit of the carb exposed on the engine side. now it sits tight. but the bike won't start, and that's another topic i'll make right now.
