Hey everyone, this is my first post on the boards, and I just wanted to say hi before I got to my question, so "hi."

And now my question:
Where is the turn signal flasher located on a 94-05 ex500? I have a set of single-filament bulbs as front turn signals, and I wired in these http://www.customdynamics.com/magic_blinkers.htm for the fronts. My problem now is that there isn't enough resistance in the converter box, so my signals blink fast. I want to install a new flasher that doesn't have the "fast-blink" feature, but I don't even know where to begin looking for it. Any help would be appreciated.

Default Help with Ninja 250 running right.

Hey, I just jetted my carbs, added filters and put a muzzy exhaust on and now my bike does not run right. First off when I start the bike it takes some effort when engine is cold, I have to turn it maybe 10 times with choke. After its started and warms up the bike has a hard time reving and/or getting past about 6,000 RPMs. And if I just dump the throttle the bike dies. I have syncronized the carbs, I just dont know much about carbs, any help would be great. Thank you.

Let me ask you 250 riders a question...
I just had a guy that has been riding for 15+ years tell me that he thinks no 250 should ever be on the road and no one should ride those for any commuting ever. 500's are as low as he thinks should be allowed on the road.

thoughts?

A 500 will go just a bit over 120mph without any issue, I hear the 250s will just about get to 100.

I think they both get the job done without too much of an issue, he can have his opinions, but I don't agree with them.

considering I don't want to go over 100, and I want to commute about 40 miles one way to work at 50-65 mph, I think the 250 should be fine. Do you agree?

I sat on the 06' ninja 500r today. I think it should handle my 6'2" frame and push my 240 lbs down the road with alittle zip. The dealer doesn't allow test runs and says I need a bigger bike. Is the motor cold natured during warmup? Does anyone know how many horsepower the stock motor puts out?
Thanks

There is no reason for you to get a bigger bike, that thing will handle your weight without much issue.

Its not cold natured at all. 50ish horsepower at the rear wheel, and 33ish ft/lbs of torque.

I ride the 250 aswell, I wiegh in at 165 and my girl at 110 thats 275lbs and Iv reached 160kmh = 100mph with the two of us. I agree that 250cc is small, however Kawasaki has done a great job on this 14g red line engine. and it deserves to be acknowledged.

Just passed my MSF. I really want to get a 636, but my abilities are not quite there yet, well, no where close. I would like to start off in the 500 class. I know the ex500 is a great bike but I am not so fond of the looks. I like the new Suzuki 500 as far as styling and its only 9 pounds heavier and same size tires. Does anyone know how these to bikes defer as far as performance. I will prolly go with the EX500, but any input would be helpful.

Well, I love my EX500 to death.

I will probably keep it when I finally do upgrade to a 636 or R6.

This bike is way to fun to tool around town in. Personally, I prefer it's looks over the Suzuki 500 as well. Paid 3800 for a 2005 w/ only 2k miles on it, mint condition. Couldn't be happier.

The GS500 has no where near the zip that the 500r does. I'd put it somewhere between the 250 and 500 of Kawasaki. If you've taken the MSF course and passed, then the 500 should be more than enough to keep you happy for a while

I second that the 500R is a great bike!.... it will do for many years for learning on....I too plan to upgrade in 6-7 yrs to a "bigger" bike.... looking at zx6r, zzr600, 750s, or even the new 650R, but 6-7 yrs is a looong time away, so just dreaming right now.

Chimera, It's not just the 500 it's about every bike out there. They have a tendency to be about 3 to 5 mph slow. I have a GPS on mine and at 70 mph my GPS shows 64mph. Just helps keep you from getting a ticket. :>)

Hmm...I'm kinda bored with my 500R.

Call me stupid, or dumb, or just plain ignorant, but after owning it for only 3 months, I'm actually bored of it already.

Maybe I just don't have the respect for it that I should. Sigh...guess assuming I survive the cold winter riding it, that by summer I should have enough for that 600 supersport bike I always wanted.

so many choices! Argh!
