Does anybody know what these bits are? My bike is being sold piece-by-piece on ebay. I can't seem to find them listed in any parts diagrams.

I didn't have anywhere good to do it either. I bought the paint in spray cans from ColorRite and it was pretty expensive. Had to buy a base coat, the color and clear coat. I was lucky to get a 70 degree day at the beginning of the month but it was windy, which made it much harder. Considering the cost of the paint it might just be better to take it to a local body shop that can color match; I bet it doesn't cost much more. If I do this again, I'm going to set up some kind of tent to make sure wind doesn't affect it and that bugs don't get in it.

Don't forget about dust, your parts have to be in a "clean-room" while they dry otherwise you'd just end up with pits and imperfections, you might be able to polish most of that out, but still...

hhmmm...it does have me thinking here. How many cans of each did you buy? And I'm guessing I would just take it slow and easy...make sure no runs and even?

I bought one can of each. I did the painting outside and each layer dries really fast (5-10 minutes) so the whole process took about 2 hours. I used 2 layers of the base color and I think about 3.5 layers of the passion red color (some parts were better than others and I had to touch up some areas) and I think I used 3 layers of the clear coat. I just took it slow and easy too since I'd never done this before. If you were to paint yours black rather than silver you could probably get a matching color cheaper at an auto parts store I'm guessing. If you want silver take a look at ColorRites website to see what you need. It will tell you if you need to buy a base coat can or if you can just use the color and clear coat. It did say the clear coat needed 5 days to cure before polishing so I brought the panels inside just in case temperature changes would affect them before I put them on the bike. While I painted I put the panels on top of old quart stain cans to elevate them from the ground so there wouldn't be any paint accumulating on the edges of the panels and to help me paint.

You might just have to keep checking them, otherwise you will be spending a lot of money on them. This website has a bunch of info, they might have a website listed where you can find fairings.

Maybe something in the light system? Looking at the voltage readings on the side, it looks like the controller circuits? Maybe they headlight relay or turn signal relay?

Hi all
I've noticed that when I stop (switch the bike off) the bike seems to make funny sound - its like a 'phweep'. Does anyone know what this is? Is it the fuel tank de-presuring? Its a Ninja 250 (200 and I'm loving every bit.

Cheers

My gas tank will make a high pitched whinning noise, if that's what you mean by "phweep" then yes it's the gas tank purging out the fumes.

It's fast enough to get you in trouble, but not as fast as an inline 4 engine.
