I'm not sure if the 500 is the same, I've honestly never seen one up close. I think hubby cut it with a hack saw, I ran to the auto store, and it was cut when I came back. I'll have to ask him. The only thing I found on flush mounts for the 500 was a vid on youtube, he's a member of the forum, and does a review on upgrades he got for his bike, here's a link to the vid, hope it helps.

I like the flush mounts I'm just wondering if they would be too small to see real well. I wonder how hard those integrated mirrors are to install. I found some 3 wire flush mounts. If I'm understanding correctly..I'll need 3 wire to keep the blinkers as running lights, if I only get 2 wires they will not work as running lights anymore. Thanks

Howd this all turn out for you?
Lopping off the fender was pretty straight forward, but with a dremel
I kind of chunked it a bit.

I just ordered the Flush mounts for the 250 as well.
I think they will look pretty sweet, also they are said to be very bright.
That is all I need to hear, but if I ever feel like my safety is being compromised Im going right back to the old ones.

It actually came out pretty well. I used a hack saw and ordered some new short stalk signals so was gonna put up a pic when I had it all together. I can prolly take off a little more but will do when the signals come in so I don't have to take everything off twice. I also order some short stalk for the front, I found some 3 wire with a clear lense that I liked. Mirrors came in yesterday but I got home too late from class to put them on. So, little by little it's getting done.

Ah you are in the south. I envy you today sir.
we have that white crap on the ground up here still.

I just rewired and bought new bulbs for the rear turns.
I put them in the empty sockets in the back and never had a worry after that.
I suggest you solder them wires together.

Hope it all works out to your likings.
Better throw some photos up here when its all set.

Yeah it sucks doesn't it?! I can't wait for winter to be over. I can't ride until like July anyway, I'm pregnant. But there is things I could still be doing to the bike. I think we are due for even more snow, ugh.

Definitley make sure to post pics when you get everything together Sherry!

Yeah, threats of hurricanes do suck but at least we have warning and can get out. I guess every section of the country, world has their own thing to worry about. I rode to work this morning. 60's all day with sunshine I put my mirrors on last night..got off of ebay. They look pretty good. Vibrate a bit but no more than stock I would say. I noticed this morning on the way in doing about 70 mph they were pushed in a little. I'll see again on the way home tonight. If you get Jag mirrors and have a ninja 500 be prepared to swap out the bases...the jag's are too big.

you > me

I wanna move up, but the gas mileage
is hard to say goodbye too...
and I still owe about a grand on this...
so I might wait another season unless I get this
promotion I applied for.

One more odd issue:

Today while driving around, I had a few moments where the bike seemed to lose power suddenly. Once while I was taking off from a red light, as I shifted from 1st to 2nd to 3rd, the bike lurched as though I let off the gas and for a moment seemed to lose all power, but after a bit I was able to give it throttle again.
One or two more times something similar happened, though only for a split second. One time while downshifting I glanced at the tachometer and saw it drop all the way down for a split second before returning to 2700-3000 or so, where I was riding at. (I wasn't running out of gas.) Also, I just used some gumout in case the carberator was dirty, but this doesn't seem to have had any effect. What might be the issue?

JoHo...I went and sat on the new Yamaha FZ6R. It is so nice!! But out of my price range right now. So I will have to wait until a year or two also. By that time I'll have a school loan paid off, braces paid off, hopefully a raise or two. So I know how ya feel. I'm trying to make mine a little different with minor things. Gas mileage is good on this too.

Yikes to the power drop. That sounds kinda scary.
But if you haven't rode in a bit. It sounds like my
Bike after it sits for a long time.
Does it happen more frequently at the start or the end
Of your ride? Or just whenever?
Check your manual for any regular matenance you
May have missed. That's what I'd do.

Sherry it's a travisty isn't it?
I think if I move to Philadelphia I'm just going to sell my car
And go with a bigger bike.
Yamahas are nice. But Kawasaki has been good to me
so I dunno if I'm going try and stay kawi. But a dealer
showed me an r6 that I think is on par with a zzr650

Hope the braces did their dollars worth.
I know the student loan hurts... Got a few of my own.

Just a quick suggestion, have you changed the spark plugs? I would at least change them, it can't hurt any. Did you have the issue before using the gumout? I know when I sprayed that in my car years ago, it made it hesitate and run rough, until it burned it all off. If it was doing that before the gumout I'm lost.

To answer your question about the wires. Yes there are 3 wires, but you don't HAVE to use the 3rd. It is only for running lights for the front signals, which I don't believe is necessary and just adds ugliness at night. Here is a pic of my front flush mounts. Got them off ebay for about $15, clear lensed, carbon fiber, cat-eye shape, and really bright!

Also, here is what I did for the rears. Also clear lense carbon fiber, but I was able to fit them right into the stock holes, (which will change when I eliminate the fender in a couple weeks, will have to figure something else out).
