So why do they offer 600cc bikes, why not just make all of them 1000cc if they handle better and have more power?

I was under the impression a 600cc bike was a better track bike then a zx-14

You're missing the point... the less stable a vehicle, the faster it can change directions.. in theory, if a 250 was given the same quality suspension and contact patch area as your average 600 super sport, it *would* be able to carry a higher corner speed than the same 600. But 250's get a budget suspension, so they will NOT out handle a 600. A 600 will typically lap faster on a tight track with few long straights than a liter bike, where the ability to change direction trumps top speed and acceleration, but if the track suddenly becomes talladega... the 600 would be left in the dust, because there is more straight than turn.

everything is a balance... until you start throwing cubic dollars at the problem... a 250cc GP bike would likely embarrass a 600cc supersport.

I thought i read something on the ex500riders forum that this happens when you raise the rear and after the rubber is worn away its fine. I was just wondering if anybody knows anything at all about this. Is there anything I can do? Should i drop it back to stock height? Or just let it go?
well if keeps rubbing after the rubbert is gone is going to damage the swingarm you shoud have a tention on the chain no more of 1''1/4 or less 7/8''

has anyone here ridden their 250r down i95 in the miami area? just curious to see how it handled in that traffic, they go 90mph, not sure if the 250 could keep up and at the same time be relatively safe.

I think my old 500 was raited at 394 lbs. And can someone tell me how fast is the 650 at 4k rpm ? I need to know if I can drive the Hwy or tow it. about a 40 mile trip. (Im guessing the 650 break in limit is 4k rpm)

Yeah break in will be 4K rpms. it should be around 45mph might even be more, My 250 was 38mph i think at 4K.

Breaking in an engine today means basically only breaking in the piston rings. They need load/unload cycli by winding and unwinding the throttle. When you load them the compression will make the rings expand and wear in against the nicasil bore. Which might take some time by the way as the rings and cylinder bore are HARD.

the first 100 miles are seemingly important to baby it and as you get closer to 600 miles you can wing it, just dont tach it out.

Break in period also means, eat away warranty time.

I have ridden on i75 around 80mph. feels pretty stable and the semi trucks don't really blow you around like you think, you just have to ride SMART and plan maneuvers. Top out is around 105 - 115 depending on how much you weigh. This bike is weight sensitive as all bikes are the lighter they themself are

You can use whatever grade of gasoling your wallet can handle in the 250 and 500. I have run it all and the only difference is price. I had noticeable change in performance or mileage. It won't hurt to run regular.

Anyone looking for a new Ninja 500R I found a new 2007 same color as mine at the dealership where I got mine at. Montgomeryville Cycler Center in PA. If you negotiate the deal well enough I imagine you could be out the door TT&L for $4,400 which is their price on the bike. But I bet you could get them to make that the out the door price. They have several older new bikes that they get at auction from dealers who are going under and still had them in crates.

Default about the fog airbox mod

i am about to do the airbox mod when im looking at my airbox and what do i see? the airbox has two inlet holes. unfortunatly they are both on the same side. so is the goal of the modification to relocate the second hole in the right side to the leftside so the air inlets are evenflow. or is just drilling a third hole the objective? i am planning to plug the opening that is directly under the seat and drill a hole on the left sidecoverand install the same tube that is on the right sidecover. the thing that baffles me is the stock second hole if moved will alow the same amount of airflow to both carbs that was allowed in the stock configuration. but if i did it like the mod says the flow into my airbox will be greater (not necessarily even cuz there will be two holes on one side and one on the other) so the question becomes should there be two, or three, or four holes in my airbox? i do want more and even airflow but i dont want to flow too much. what do you suggest?

If you can't be happy with the 250 in Stock form, you're not going to be happy with the bike at all. Sell it and buy what you Really want. It'll be MUCH cheaper, more reliable and less stressful.

I agree on the EX Ninjas they are just not the powerhouse and if that is what you are looking for get a ZZR or ZX Ninja.

I rode wheelies on my older bikes I had years ago when I felt indestructible. Once you get it up you have to feather the throttle to keep it up. If you just pull the throttle back and hold it you run out of RPMs and power on a 250. If you hold onto the throttle too long you can loop it backwards and trash your bike.

dude, you're not going to loop a 250 unless you've got a 60+ tooth rear sprocket....
