welcome to the forum!
Welcome to all the new peeps to the forum. I'd take the ex based on its well proven track record.

How do you wetsand your tank out of curiosity?

I will never wheelie my bike but it is nice to see stunters do it...Sorta a fun side thing.

I have a '05 500 and I've installed a fender eliminator and just recently put on a Muzzy exhaust system. I was hoping someone can suggest any other mods that will either enhance the bike's appearance and/or speed. I'm also curious how the flush mount turn signals look. Here's a picture I took with my phone. Not the best quality but you can at least see the exhaust and the lack of fender. ninja-250r-500r-muzzy-3.jpeg

Haha sorry... I didn't mean to post the same thing twice . My dad and I are planning to ride our bikes from Virginia to Kansas this summer. Before we head off, I want to make sure we'll be prepared for the trip. Are there any bags you guys might recommend? Thanks

Looks nice. . . What fender eliminator kit did you use? I am planning on installing the touring windshield from zero gravity and the woodcraft rearsets to make my feet more comfortable. Did you rejet the carbs yet?

hey all,
So in the last week i've decided to give riding a shot, i'll be taking the MSF in a few weeks and am currently looking at bikes. alot of threads point to the 250 ninja and 500 ninja as being good starting bikes and that the ZX-6R and GSX-R600 are just too intense for begining riders, while others say that its possible for newbies to start on a litre bike and do just fine as long as they have the control, i have no intention of hopping on a litre bike (they scare the **** out of me). However i frequently find the cars i have driven/rode in to be too slow, most autos under 375whp just bore me. can someone shed some light on this stuff?
Thanks,
--Nick

PS is ninjagirl single?

I ride a a 636 and I bought it early last spring. I rode a beater dirt bike in HS for fun but never got a bike until last year due to college, eventully going to work to start a career, and having a family. Now if I were a teen or in my early 20s a 636 would be an orgon donor machine. However when I got my 636 I was 34 and I had many things to deter me from being a fool on my bike...Most notably- I get paid very well, I have a family, I love golf , and I want more things in life. Thus I rode my bike and practiced and practiced, and did not do any upgrades until I felt like I would not thrash it which was recently. Beleive me I am far from being a good rider. Golf I am awesome gut it took me years to get that way. Same with this bike. So if you are responsible, cautious, and respectful of your ride, then any 600 is doable. If you are a straight buddafucco then get something with less juice. A friend just picked up a used and very clean by the way, 1997 YZF600r...Let me tell you now, that bike is an awesome starter bike. So comfy and tame. I recommend it highly. He likes it a lot. Just my opinion of course and I wish you luck and joy in your decision. BTW welcome aboard.

well im 18, have only riden a few dirtbikes and never on the street, im relying on the forum to help me save myself from acting the fool hehe. i guess i'll just have to talk to the guys teaching the course and stuff about what they'd recomend, i've been talking to every biker i've run into in the last week and they all have a different opinion on a good starting bike, all the riders anecdotes had in common was the "don't hop on a busa or the like and exepect to stay alive very long." It'd be sweet if someone would do a first bike buying FAQ or guide hint hint

Your instructors at the MSF will be very helpful. I was gungho about my bike process and I did not want something that I would outgrow fast. Ask your instructors at the MSF they will give you very good information. I see buying a bike as this...I can either buy a Hyundai or I can buy an Audi A4...Believe me I am getting the A4. One has more HP than the other but both get you from point A to point B. Now you are what determines if the car will be dangerous or not. Good luck!

Hi Everyone, Im new to this forum,,,,,My husband and I decided we are going to get into motorcycles. He pretty much knows what he wants to get(Yamaha Vstar Classic 1100) and me on the other hand am undecided between the Kawi 250r and the 500r. I was told by a guy at the local cycle shop that the 250r "buzzes" at highway speeds and would make my hands/wrists numb from the bad vibration that it gives and that it would have a hard time keeping up cruising at about 70mph (when i get comfortable w/ that speed). Also he said that I would probaly want a 500 in about a year or so. This guy also told me that it wouldnt go very well with 2 adults on the bike. I should also add that I'm a long legged 5'9 with no experience with motorcylces-not yet anyways! I do like the 06' 250 better than the 500 when it comes to the body style. Should I listen to this guy or what?

Have you taken the MSF class yet? Take it. There are 250cc bikes in there. Now if you get a 250 in the class and like it more power to you. If you feel like it is weak, then get the 500r. The guy makes valid points. However, this forum is full of very informative riders who ride both the 250 and 500. They will definitely be of great help in regards to your question. Good luck on your MSF class and picking the bike of your choice. Welcome aboard my fellow New Yorker (I am in CA now though)!

It's ok to be excited. I was excited as well. Just don't forget to get good gear. Everyone I knew said get your gear first so you would not skimp on your gear after shelling out so much dough for your bike. I did and I was happy I did that...I feel much safer on my bike knowing I am protected. I am so concerned with protection I just picked some EVS body armor and near full lenght knee protectors. Regardless, good luck in everything. BTW there are tons of cool women's wear out right now from ICON and Power-trip.com

hello, this'll be my first post and im just wondering about some stuffs... stuff about the 250R. i did a quick search of the thread and found nothing about the stunting possibilities of the 250R. im not going to be doing hardcore or anything, but yeah this'll be my first bike and it's a time for learning.

so, what are the draw backs of the 250R in the way of stunting? namely wheelies and endos? is it possible or is the bike too light or something? would i be better off in getting a 500? thanks, im a real noob at bikes.

Not to long ago a guy on this forum spoke of doing wheelies on the 250r and he did and crashed as well. So in answer to your question, yes you can do wheelies and if you can do wheelies on a 250 I am sure you can do an endo as well. Though I am sure some of the 250 owners can aswer this if they decide to. Yeah the 500 can easily wheelie.
