Hey guys, I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is AJ and as of April 1st I am the proud owner of a 2004 500, and I love it, maybe a little too much. I'm looking forward to being a part of this forum, everyone here is really chilled out. Good thing too because I have a feeling I'm gonna have a lot of questions lol.

Just becareful once you get your bike...I would never try a wheelie on my bike. Though it can easily do a wheelie, I just enjoy riding. I am considering getting a large pocketbike to try a wheelie so if I dump on it no biggie. Just a thought, though I am not into throwing away money like that so maybe it is just a passing thought really. I know guys near my brother-in-law who wheelie all day on pocket bikes. Sorta looks fun. My only concern is dumping and hurting my ankles which is reserved for my other hobbies which are basketball and golf.

well i've yet to apply for my permit, and at this point in time i have no riding experience. all i've done is sit on a couple of bikes. so i suppose stunting will be compeletly dependant on how comfortable i feel actually riding a bike. i doubt i'll do anything though considering i like things unscratched and undamaged. we'll see though.

hey guys..instead of reading through 13 pages i'll just ask here. i was thinkin about getting a ninja 250r. i'm only about 140 pounds and 5'8" so i dont think the bike will be to small.. if i got it it would be for the purpose of driving back and forth to school each day (about 30 miles one way) should this bike have enough get up and go to keep up with cars moving in the 70-75 mph range and will it get up to that speed alright coming off of ramps on to freeways? i'm not crazy about the idea of all the cars so i would like to have a bike that i can atleast go a little faster than them and be able to speed up quick enough so i'm not cutting anyone off. also are there many upgrades for the 250 engine wise?

With your weight in mind, you will have plenty of speed and acceleration on tap.

Same here...I built a PC with a clear case and disco lights and balls. Best looking PC I ever built. I am not sure on mods on that bike but if you are looking to make it faster you are better off on a 500 or 600.

Cheap is not bad and you seem to have your riding path measured out which is awesome. Don't ever let anyone tell you to do something you are unsure of doing...As mentioned this in a previous post...My cousin's husband took his fairly new 2005 ZX-6R on a road he had no business going on for his skill level. He had just gotten his license...Well, he dumped on it and got scruffed up and totalled his bike...He got a brand new ZX-6R again and this time with a higher monthly insurance rate. Good luck man!

The parts you need are usually found nestled in the chassis of an EX500 or 600R.

Seriously, there are a few mods that can be done to a 250, but they don't do much to increase the top end speed. Most of the mods I've seen are all centered around getting the most out of the engine at lower speeds while sacrificing top end.

New to the forums! Have an account over at motorcycle-journal.com as well.

Have been fighting with the decision between a Ninja EX500 (500R?) and a Suzuki GS500. They seem very similiar, besides the few technical specs (4v-2v, water cooled-air cooled). What would you recommend, and why? I jsut can't decide. I'm a brand NEW rider as well, so speed/power isn't exactly friendly for me...

i've been at a suzuki/kawasaki dealer and looked at both. overall the ninja500 is a better deal being/stronger/lighter/better handling/and cheaper. the 500 is said to be a decent starter bike as well.

Thanks. 2 other forums I go to also recommen the Ninja over the Suzuki, mainly because of it's better performance, abd it has a much larger aftermarket selection. Looks like I'm set then. Now all I need is $2,000 and a license!

Hey everyone I'm glad I found this site it has been very helpful. Just wanted to say I put in an HID headlight today that my friend had 2 sets of for his civic and it looks sick! The only thing is I had to take half the bike apart to get to the headlight. Is there an easier way? I have and '05 ninja 500r

my first sorta problem. With my 250r. My engine tempurature is bugging the hell out of me. It stays at 1/4 warm after fully warmed up and i go. Through out all riding its like this. Then after a long day of riding. I notice its still there at the 1/4 mark and my fans don't turn on anymore like they use too.

Also my engine vibrates a little more then im use to. The oil level is fine. Also, it starts out at the normal cold point on the temp guage.

Im such a bike noobart. The guage was just adjusting everytime it ran fluid through. Kept going 1/4 point middle repeat forever while running. sorry for all teh trouble

I have an 87 ex500 that we put pod air filters on since the airbox is such a pain in the rear to get back on. I'm wondering what size jets I should put in because of the increased air flow. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
