Hi everyone!!! I've skimmed through most of this thread to make sure this question hasn't already been asked and answered...and I didn't see it, so forgive me if this is a repeat....but, I have a 06' 250 and I am unable to put my helmet on the helmet hook thing (sorry for the non-technical speech)...has anyone with a 250 been able to use their helmet hook??? or am i just an idiot that doesn't know how to work it?

Heres a little helmet securing idea that I and another guy from my work use. If you go into any gunshop or sporting goods store they give away (no kidding) or sell very inexpensive gun cable locks. The cable is meant to run down the end of a gun barrel and is coated to prevent the gun from being damaged, then locked with a padlock device on the end, thus rendering the gun useless. These are provided with pretty much every new gun purchase in America for handguns and 90% of the gun owners toss it out or never use the thing. I have several myself.
Well it seems that if you take the little bar on the very back of your seat and run one of these short cable locks through it and the very front of a full face helmet, it locks it very securly to the bike with little to no play whatsoever. It cannot fall off, and cannot be manipulated or moved around much. This is not a typical cable lock in that it provides "just enough" room to get the cable around the bottom half of a FF helmet and bar and not much else. No way it can touch a pipe and you can get these things all day for in or around 10.00 bucks if not free. Most are key lock operated as well. |

I am at WIT'S END when it comes to getting my bike onto the road. I
live in sunny Florida and recently purchased a kawasaki ninja 500R '03. 2\10ths of a mile is all I road he bike before misplacing the only key I had. I have spoken to several lock- smiths in the vicinity of what is referred to as the "TREASURE COAST" of Florida. Not one of the locksmiths have been able to successfully remove the ignition so as to be able to read the 6-digit number to fabricate a new key. One of the locksmiths told me that the '03 ninja500R has a special ignition lock that no other ninja has. He went on to say that a special torque wrench was needed to remove the ignition. I am baffled, confused, mad at myself for losing the key etc... FYI-I bought the bike second hand and the original owner only had one key as well. Please send any advice your years of cycling wisdom may recall. THANK-YOU, lilcubbie2 |

Manufacturer's suggested retail price on the 500R is about $5,100.00. I walked into the dealership and told them that if they would bring the price down to $4,700.00 they would sell that bike today . After tax, tags, title, inspection, license plate fee (1year), set up and delivery I paid $5,500.00

Hey Im new to the forums. New rider as well, just took the MSF course in early May. I just bought a 1999 EX250 on Ebay a week ago. Its black with teal(?) accents. The dual pipes had already been replaced by a single Yoshimura pipe. I recieved the stock pipes with the bike and the Yoshi sounds so danged annoying at highway speeds that I am going to put the stock pipes back on, I am worried about my hearing because it is so loud. I had only ridden a bike during the MSF course and then I bought the 250 and rode it from Lakeland to Jacksonville up I95. Some of my friends said I was stupid to do that but besides some wind buffeting, I was fine, definitely sore, but fine. I bought the bike from a private person, it has 12,000 miles, what things should I check for before I start putting heavy miles on it? Thanks!

Hi all , I just put a D&D exhaust on an EX500. for those of you considering D&D, I am very disappointed . The pipes are beautiful , and if they do exactly what the manufacturer says they will do . The problem is my ninja sounds like a Harley Davidson . If anyone knows how to tune pipes and change the tone please let me know . If that doesn't work all be selling these pipes on ebay and trying out a set of Muzzy's.
