That is pretty cool, but I do kind of like the simplicity of the current look. The newer black on black is very nice. However, if it doesn't jack the price up $1000 and sparks greater interest in the 500s (and brings down the prices on the current look), it can't be a bad thing.
Of course, I'd be tempted to drive that thing waaaaay too fast.
Hiya Ghandi and thanks! Yup! She's ridden more than 3300 miles with me so far this year. (Probably more than 40,000 miles in her life.) She thinks the EX is the dog's bo11ocks!:Originally Posted by Propagandhi

Funny thing happened at dinner today - we rode out to this little resturant in Crozet, VA, and while we were eating they mentioned that they felt like I had outgrown my current bike and needed a bigger one. While I'm flattered that they feel my skills have improved, I can't help but feel that they're wrong - I have a hard time believing you CAN outgrow this bike, I think it will always have something to teach me. Comments?

That all depends upon who they are. If they're your parents, spouse or wealthy uncle hinting that perhaps they'd like to buy you a new bike, BY ALL MEANS, it's time to move on!
If, on the other hand, they're like nearly everyone else who subscribe to the commonly-held ideal decreeing that all seasoned riders must display their prowess with either a 1300cc-Harleys or a liter sportbike, just invite them on a ride. You don't need a literbike to have a great time, nor do you need an 800-pound chrome-dipped piece of buttjewelry to prove that you are a skilled rider.
I've ridden my ZX9R 35,000 miles, and before that wore-out a Honda VTR1000 Superhawk (after only 50,000 miles.) But I travelled to Colorado earlier this year for my red '02 EX500. Perhaps because I've outgrown my ZX9R?
Sure the 500 is a suitable bike for beginners, but that doesn't mean it isn't a lethal weapon in the hands of an experienced rider.
Just be prepared to be treated like a beginner by everyone who you haven't had the opportunity to ride with. It's actually a fun test to find out whom are the dip$hits.
Great pics, Chris! I gotta get my cat out there on my 500. Yeah, right! She'd probably die of a heart attack.
Peace, man!

I used to know a guy that had a little dog that would ride just about like yours (only on a cruiser). The dog had its own helmet and riding jacket. That dog loved to ride and would head to front door when the helmets came out of the coat closet. I'm not sure where he got a Benji-dog sized helmet though.....Originally Posted by Calamarichris

'nother question - how do you guys carry around a helmet for your passenger? Because I have yet to figure out a good stable way to carry that extra helmet. I see some guys at school on the larger supersports have them what looks like attached under the seat by the strap... I've tried and can't get that to work. Suggestions?

Get a larger supersport. (?)Originally Posted by Daekar
Several options. If it's a cheap helmet, you can use the ubiquitous cargo nets:

I personally would rather spend the dosh and get some good luggage like this that will do the job right, and work for other stuff:

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
I wish they would do that... too bad that pics of a -6ROriginally Posted by r409z

Believe it or not I actually have a set of those exact tourmaster bags... the saddle and tailbag. Unfortunately that doesn't help... because when i get to my destination, i might have the helmet with me, but i also have my bags - which leaves no place for the passenger to sit. You see my dilemma?

You can't leave the tailbag at her* house or in her* car when you pick her* up? Sounds like the net is probably your best option:
*Or HIS if you are a woman rider.![]()
Thanks Chris - I was trying to avoid the cargo net option because I've heard that they're unsafe, but I think I'll have to suck it up and go with that option. Any suggestions on where to buy one? I've got a decent sized-honda dealer within 10 minutes of me, but that's about it, so i'll check there. Any input appreciated

I don't trust those nets either. As long as you're picking her up, why not just leave your tailbag at her house or in her car when you bring her the helmet? Might give you an excuse to get a foot in the door later...? When you bring her back from the club...? With a few drinks in her...? Eh...?
And the tailbag can also hold her gloves too. If she doesn't already have a nice pair of gloves, this would be the first thing I'd give her. We want to protect those "graceful, elegant little songbird-like treasures at the end of [her] arms,*" eh...?
*Feel free to use this compliment when you give her the gloves. Tally-ho!
P.S. Sorry I couldn't tell if you were a guy or girl. There's a clump behind your helmet on your avatar-photo and I didn't want to make any assumptions.
Walmart sells those nets in either the auto section or the sporting goods section. and they're only like 4 dollarsI use my net for a lot of things (like bringing food home from work

I would rather buy a do-it-yourself brain-surgery kit or a book entitled "Birth Control Using your Unrealized ESP" from a swapmeet in Tijuana, than a single-serving bar of soap from Wal-Mart. If you ever see me walking willingly into a Walmart, call the police because I probably have at least one pipe-bomb on my person.
I'm not a big Walmart fan myself, but it's hard to beat their DVD prices.
I work at Target. And shop at Walmart all the time.....I only care about the prices, Walmart could be a tent on the side of the road for all I care. I don't go there for how the place looks, I go there for my wallets health.
Dude. I'm almost as sorry for your wallet's health as I am for your grammar (not that the two are remotely related.) Congratulations at least for knowing how to save money, (if little else.)Originally Posted by Redline
