hi every one im looking at getting either a ninja 250 or 500. they are both affordable to insure and get great milage. i know they arent cruisers or real super bikes but would a 250 be fast enought for me to cruse at 80 for a while on the freeway? i weigh in the 160's and am 6'1. i would mostly do around town but i would still do some freeway riding to get to and from places. would it hurt the engine to cruise at higherspeeds for a while? could i take it from phoenix az to flagstaff az with out any problems? i just want to make sure that if i i accidentally cut some one off or someone was tailgating me that i could speed up and get outa the way with out getting run over. as long as it was undr 350 ibs could i carry 2 people around the city on the little 250? i would prefer a 500 but they are kind of hard to find in good condition for a cheap price in az. however, there are tons of 250s for a good price.

I will state this--I weigh 310 lbs and I went from Lavonia, Ga to Atlanta, ga 110 miles on Interstate 85 around the bypass and up Interstate 75 to Chattanooga, Tenn, then to Nashville tenn, then to Louisville Kty--all Interstate in one day--doing 70, 80, sometimes 90. The next day--on to Michigan Did I have the front wheel in the air 99% of the time--NO I did Not. Did I have enough power-yes I did- well for me but I don't know if you would have enough. The Ninja 250 or 500 are both motorcycles that you have to ride- personally I think the 250 does the best job. I was geared 15/42 and had a ball, I enjoyed myself more than when I was on the Z14 or R90. I also had put Gel in the seat. |

You can get tons of info at Ninja250 Riders Club :: Index
READ the FAQ before you post any questions. There's enough info in the FAQ to last you a good while to read. |

I have a 250 and have no problems cruising at 80 on the freeways. I am able to get out and around traffic easily, and my bike always seems willing to pull strong and hard. It is no 500, don't get me wrong, so at times I have to use the upper end of the tach...lol., but my bike loves it and it sounds so good. I am also your height and weight. I can't think of any complaints with needing performance and the bike delivering on that. I hope this helps you out.

Well said. Plus it doesnt matter the bike, its the rider. I ride with so many different bikers on different bikes. Big bikes are only as fast as the rider at the controls. The new guys can not keep up with the 250, and they are on 600's and bigger supersports. |

The second one is the one most have gone with that I have seen. But you will need to rejet. Here is some info How a carburetor works: Carbs explained - Ninja250Wiki How do I install a jet kit? - Ninja250Wiki Go to this site as well ex250, gpx250r, kawasaki, carb kit, Data by EC997a eddy current Dynamometer Factory Pro kits do not require drilling into your carbs. You dont need to and you shouldnt have to anyway. Stay away from Dynojet. |

Hey there Bradley, I am by no means an "expert" but i have been riding some type of bike for most of my life. I have not been on a bike for about the last 5-6 years and recently acquired my ninja 500R from a buddy. I was wanting to get back into riding and wanted a bike that i could get back in the groove with. I have to say that the 500 is one of the most forgiving and all around fun bikes that i have ever been on. It is very easy to ride for either a beginner or for someone like me who has had a long layoff and is just getting back in the game, and has the power to really scoot when you need it. I'm not sure how everyone else feels about this particular bike, but I for one love it. Excellent choice Bradley!!!
