[quote=BradleyD1146;996780]Hey what do you guys think about me ( a new rider haha) getting a ninja 500r for my first bike think it would be efficient enough in power but still a pretty safe starter with the right amount of power or what ? fill me in experts [/QUOTE

I had one years ago and loved it. The only suggestion I would have is keep an eye on your speedometer. I was going for a ride on Cape Cod on Memorial Day. I was going around a sweeping bend when I saw the red and blue lights behind me... I swear it felt like i was going about 40mph then I look down at the speedo and I'm doing 70mph!! No, he didn't just give me a warning.

I have ridden 2 new 250r and they are nice. they don't have quite the get up and go the older ones have, but darn close and handle great but I really prefer the older ones. With just a little help in the shock dept, they out handle the new ones and have better power because of the weight.

I have ridden several 500's and prefer the 250 but that is personal taste. I have put progressive springs in the front tubes, plus heavier oil. I have put a 97 ZX 600 C shock in the rear, two bothers slip ons and stage 2 kit. I also put k&N air filter in. Tomorrow I start putting new tires on. I had to wait for the tire balancer.

I weight 310lbs and when the weather gets up to 60 degrees in Ill, I will be going from Georgia to Ill and Wis on it. Oh yes, I have the pro oiler and the coffee holder with warmer installed, plus tomtom ryder--also slipped some gel under the seat cover.

.... Man that sucks but I know what you mean. I really have to pay attention when riding to because the speed on the 500 is deceiving!

Sounds like u have made a bunch of cool mods to your bike! Thats gonna be a long ride but should be one for your memory books! Do you have a date when you want to leave Georgia yet???

Hey guys I need your advice to figure out what's wrong with my Ninja 500r. I went out of country for more than a month and when I came back and tried starting my bike it won't start. Initially it showed some signs of life and indicators started but didn't had enough power to start the engine. So i tried to charge the battery from my car. And now no signs of life nothing happens even the oil check light won't start. Then I replaced the battery and placed a brand new one which is fully charged. Still there is no sign of life its not even showing oil check light or any other indication of life. Did i burned the electrical system when I tried to charge it? Is there anything that I can do at home to atleast start it and take it to the shop? I am relatively new biker and just started few months ago so don't have much knowledge about it. I do however have repair manual for the bike but it wasn't much useful.

How was the bike stored? Exposed to the elements or covered? Could a critter have been snacking on the wiring? Have you checked the fuses?

The bike was covered and I did use fuel protector so I don't think that it was the cause. And battery did have some sign of power the first time but died completely after charging from the car.

When you charged it with your car, which you should not have done to begin with, you blew a fuse. More than likely the 20A main fuse.

Fuel protector doesnt do anything if you didnt run it thru the carbs as well. The carbs still have old fuel in them, and are now gummed up.

Clean the carbs, replace the blown fuse, and get a battery tender.

I just learned of the 2008 250R redesign.
I love it, and you have to understand...
When I have my 00 R1 payed off, I could see myself actually selling it to buy a BRAND new 250R from dealership and then I'd TURBOCHARGE it!!!

yes that bike would definitely be me

( I was going to buy a 250ex, test drove some, then this R1 kind of just landed in my lap and I couldn't say no or anything. Of course I love it and of course its pure insanity. However, It is more fun to drive a 'slow' bike fast than a fast bike slow. )

I want to improve my carburetor jetting - Ninja250Wiki.

I personnally like the sound of the 2Bros on the 250. I havent purchased these yet but will.

Here is a link to a video of the 2Bros. YouTube - NINJA 250R NEW EXHAUST "DRAGON"

Between the Yoshi and 2Bros. which is the least loudest?
Or maybe I should ask which is the loudest?

I'd like a little more sound from my pipes but nothing obnoxiously loud
as to tick off the neighbors. So I'm looking for the quieter of the two above.

I did listen to the sound clips but it's hard to judge the actual volume
level each produces.

Don't want Muzzys. Don't want to give up my centerstand or rejet.

From what I have been told all aftermarket 250 exhaust are loud.

They are the same. Just like the Ninja EX250 or 250R. Designations slightly different but all the same.

Officially they are EX500 and EX250.

I picked up my bike last night from dealer. They have a waiting list on the bike. This one came in for a customer and the deal fell through. It was the color I wanted anyways.

I was able to pick it up for $500 under MSRP and they threw in some goodies. I got the solo seat cowling (on order) and a Vista Cruise control.

The ride home was in down pouring rain. I broke her in good.

Here is a pic of the cruise control
