I have been most fortunate in that I have been able to find every aftermarket part that I have wanted for the 250 without any effort what so ever. I cannot say the same for the ST3 or the Z14, after 3 months, I am still looking. Try finding aftermarket parts for the R90S or the Aerial square 4 (hehe). The only thing I could possibly conceive that would be hard to find, would be hard bags but could not understand why anyone would want them on this particular bike anyway, for they look absolutely hideous on this particular machine. I am a fan of soft luggage with scotch guard anyway. I may have to eat those words next week however because we will be ordering our parts. All the internal engine parts ( punching it out ), clutch, larger alternator, plus a few other mods. The bike has 68,892 hard miles on it. Thank goodness there are 4 of us old goats and we have several youngun's around to do the grunt work. I will be doing the line boring and the Hobb work for the gears. They have stepped up the timetable so I can do my part before the trip. By the way here is my little machine. LiveVideo.com - The World is Watching |

The tires are really slick because they are new so I am supposed to take it easy for the first 100 miles. I thought I read somewhere that lightly sanding the tires with some low grit sand paper helps but not sure. |

Thank you so much, I find that everyone here is really into fixing their bike up look wise and that is great. Your bike is really improved and I must admit really for the better. The 3/4 fairing's on the 500 is one of the things that turned me off on it, plus the seat height and weight. But with what you have done, other small things become really insignificant, a really nice job and I really must congratulate you. 2 of my friends that I have, own 500"s.
I myself, don't particularly care that much about improving the looks of this particular machine ( a generation gap thing, I guess ) I like the stock look of the rear end much better than the moded one. As long as it is clean, well maintained and functional, then I am all for it. Things like Gel in the seat, boy does my old rear end appreciate that one |

The only things I am adding are a few decals (in silver so that they're unobtrusive) and I am looking for a Corbin seat for comfort on long rides. (I'm hoping to find a used one so that I can recover it—I really don't like the exterior finishing on the Corbin models.) That's about it.

Hey, I'd love to get out to Key West, but that would be a heck of a long bike ride! I don't think I have that much time off work…

Nick, you can just jump in anytime and interrupt us—we're used to it!
(Chuck, where's the promised picture of your bike with new mid-fairing????)

Liz, good memory... I'm off tomorrow and had planned on taking/posting them then. I just received my smoke windscreen from some company on Ebay. It took 13 days to get here from So-Cal (yes, I gave them TERRIBLE feedback).

Here is nickrigg's question. He posted it in the Mechanic's Corner section:
installing aftermarket LED turn signals? ive got a 06 ex250 had it for about 3 months, and just layed it down 3 weeks ago. when i layed it down i busted the front turn signal, which led me to go ahead and put on after market lights instead of the big bulkies. anyway. i got the rears on and they began blinking kinda fast but i didnt really care, but when i put the fronts on. all 4 lights went dim and constantly stayed on untill turned off. so i was told to buy a bigger signal resistor, and install a relay adaptor. after having done so. all it did was make the lights brighter, but when i turn the turn signals on they all come on and stay on, NO blinking. so i put the oem lights back on the front and everything worked fine. so i put the aftermarkets on again and still no blinking just solid orange.. someone please help me.

Nick—if you could take a picture of the aftermarket lights and the wires out of those lights, that would help us figure out your problem.

Tony says it's most likely a wiring issue, but without seeing what the wiring on the aftermarket lights looks like, it's kind of a guessing game.

There are a couple of conflicts with the May event at Infineon, so I'm guessing we won't go to that race, but I'll keep you posted. Are you going to either of the events?
