Don't know where I should toss this, but this looks like a good place. My ninja 250 is supposed to be for commuting ONLY, but I couldn't resist some twisties with some good friends of mine! Looks like someone snapped a cool pic in the process. Enjoy!

So.. the rear end of my 2008 250R has managed to collect a lot of mud. Is it safe to blast the rear end with a garden hose or should I play it safe and use a wet microfiber towel?

Personally I'd go with a towel...the garden hose might take off all the lube on your chain, but if you have spare chain lube I don't see why not...mud eh? been doing some offroading with your 250R? hope you get it nice and clean again

Clean and lube your chain prior to spraying the rear. Then if you have to, clean and lube it again after your done. That's your best bet.

Anyone know how to change the oil if the center stand is gone? The muzzy kinda did away with that.

Haha! No off-roading at all. I seriously have no idea how it got all over. Thanks a lot for your suggestion.

I've got a 2005 Kawasaki 250 and I've just replaced the handlebars. I took apart the throttle control, and the cables fell out of their set up in the twist throttle. So now I'm having problems with the throttle either sticking or delaying. Mainly I need help figuring out how it is properly set up so I can get back to riding. Thanks much for any help.

Depends how you ride it. My '05 has just under a 4 gallon tank... approximately 50 mpg, I try to fill 'er up at about 150 miles so I don't have to go on reserve.

ok.. ill prolly use that as my figure then... and also... do we have a recommended octane to use for the 500r's? I was told to use 89, is that correct, or does it matter?

Always refer to your owner's manual and it will tell you what to put in it. I had a 500R and if I recall, 87 was okay. My 650R says 91, so I spend the extra change and do what my manual says. Kawi's OM's are great !!!

I'm 240 pounds and I found 45 MPG was the average for me, but I rode it pretty hard. I also went by the 150 rule-of-thumb.

Here are some pictures;

Two things I had happen to me in the past after changing the bars or installing the Woodcraft risers.

- Grip rubbing on throttle housing or bar-end. Make sure there is enough clearance on both ends.

- Throttle cable position doesn't allow cable to move properly. While installing your bars it is common to move your throttle cable into a position it has never been in before. This can almost act as if there is a kink in the cable. Make sure the cable does not have any sharp bends in it.

Also, the OEM right handlebar has several holes already in it, make sure that you are placing the throttle housing into the right postion so that it locks into place. Post up if you get it fixed and good luck!

The 500R has a 4.8 gallon tank. I haven't really watched my mileage yet, but I expect to go about 200 miles before having to switch to reserve or fill it up again. I believe that the manual says 91 octane. That's what I use because the engine runs smoother and I get better mileage. My bike currently has about 170 miles on the last fill-up.

Hi Everyone it's riding season again in NE. I just got all my parts in for this year all kinds of goodies for the EX. The only thing I'm going to send it to the shop for is to get the fork seals done. Does anyone know about how many hours of labor this should take? Also curious if I should change out the springs while they have the forks off. The ride has always been smooth and problem free just wasn't sure the shelf life on those bad boys. Hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of the riding season.
Thanks
Eric

I use 93 Octane and have a 90 EX500 I get about 150 miles to a tank but have changed the exhaust and air box I'm not sure if that would decrease the gas mileage..........
