hey guys, I'm new here.. took the MSF course last summer, finally was able to get a hold of my very own bike a couple weeks ago and I'm loving it! Thought I'd share:
![]() I bought an alarm for it, do you think I should pay for professional installation? I'd like to do just about everything with my baby myself, alarm included, so I may be back real soon with a few more questions! Cheers! |

Welcome... I love that bike. I would have bought one if I wasn't so FAT (240 pounds). I bought a 500R and had to trade it in 4 months later just to move my big butt around (that's the excuse I gave my wife).

Nice bike, Ulala. Where are you in Oregon? I'm an Oregon girl at heart, just happened to be stuck in Cali for the past 20 years… Ride safe! Like the bike, thanks for posting the picture! |

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone!
I'm at the heart of the Willamette Valley in Corvallis, an hour north of Eugene or an hour South of Salem. Being an Oregon girl, you probably knew that! Thanks, will do.

That is such a great area for riding, both bicycles and motorcycles. I used to ride 30-40 miles two to three times per week on my bicycle when I was in school. Loved the countryside there. Are you in school? |

hey guys, i have been looking at upgrading my tires and im wondering what size tires people replace the OEM's with on a 2006 ninja 500R? i read several threads about it on ex500.com... but i didn't find a positive answer.. so what size tire should i get for my 500R? i was thinking everyone seems to get 120f/150r? is this good or am i way off... and what would the rest of the number be? (upgrading because i was a better tire then the OEM and people seem to be telling me thie 120f/150r size will help me be even more stable and able to turn faster... is this true first of all?)
thanks, please let me know! |

there is a thread in this forum dedicated to tire geometry, and so far from what I've heard, it's probably better just to stick with manufacturer's specs as far as tires go. The bike is designed to be ridden on those tires, but if you really want to tweek your riding style then look around and search this forum..you'll find lots of people for and against running bigger/wider tires. hope that helps some...good luck

Hi everyone...does anyone have any suggestions for a custom seat? I'm only 5'2 and have difficulty w/ground reach on my '07 Ninja 250. I know enough not to lower the bike, but need a good recommendation for a seat company. I've heard not to go w/gel, but rather Super Foam Cell. Any info/advice would be greatly appreciated! Looking forward to great riding weather!

there is Corbin and Sargent. The seats are not any lower than stock though.
Your best bet would be to shave the foam of the OEM seat to your liking.

I don't have my 500R anymore, but when I had it, I had to replace my rear tire because I got a nail in it. The local shop said I could go up one size. More than that and I would risk the tire rubbing on something. Once we put it on and he looked at it, he said I might be able to go up one more size after that, but it was 50/50. I felt a little higher, but didn't notice any difference in the turns like they said I would. |

Thanks so much for your reply. Do you own or know anyone who owns a Corbin seat? I've heard that they are extremely uncomfortable even after the break-in period. Any suggestions for a company that can shave down the foam on my OEM seat? Thanks again for the reply!
