im not sure.... since i work at the shop me and the owner have alot of free time when we finish up projects so we work on our own cars and stuff...... we had a old performance muffler off a katana laying around the shop so we cut off the other muffler's on the bike and ran the pipe around to the middle of the back its kind of hard because it looks nice but i think that we might just put it on the side to give it more of a race feel. We had to take off the back fender to do it put it looks better with the fender off anyway.....

After reading these forums, I have decided to drill out the riverts-definately. Do I need to do any jetting?
I don't think it changes anything about how the exhaust works. It just changes how it sounds.

I just can't seem to figure out what fits the 2004 250 besides a muzzy. Any info would be appreciated.
My 250 had a Yoshimura 2to1. It was way louder than I liked, so I swapped for stocks.

pizzaro:

I did drill out the exhaust and it works for now until I can get the aftermarket pipes.

Do you still have the Yoshi? Willing to sell?

Default frame sliders

anyone know about frame sliders for the 250? and if they really aren't made, anything to add on to protect from a lay down?

They don't make sliders for the 250 because kawi didn't give them a place to install them. So we are out of luck. I have dropped my bike twice, not moving however, and there wasn't any damage to the fairings, the handlebar and footpeg took the brunt of the hit, not even a scratch to the fairing. I doubt this would be the case in a real lay down. I have been searching for other options as well, if anyone else out there has a solution, please reply.

<-- loves his Yoshi system.....

I've had it on my 250 for almost 5 years now and love it. Personaly, I like the fact that it's loud just in the basic sense that it alerts some bonehead not looking for a bike....

I just bought my brand new 2004 Ninja 500 yesterday. I've read so many great things about them and with my old man teaching me and giving me tips, I'm sure I'll have a long and happy relationship with this new addictive substance. I plan to take the safety course for it, but everyone in IL is full, no matter where I go in the state, its insane. I've got a permit so I can at least get the hang of it before I go take the course, but if anyone has any good tips, don't be afraid to share.

I'm Canadian! I just traded in my 2005 ZZR250 Ninja for a 2005 Ninja 500 and it was the best thing I ever did! I LOVE LOVE my new 500! Now all I need to do is buy a targa lower fairing for it and I'm all set. We Canadians are lucky we have that ZZR250, those bikes are so nice looking! I had alot of compliments on my ZZR, more so than my 500. But, the 500 just rocks performance wise.

does anyone know how difficult and how much time it takes to change out the stock air filter with a K&N Air filter in a 250R.

Hey whats up guys, I just bought a 2006 Ninja 500r the other day. I had been looking at the Ninja 500 and after visiting this forum I knew it was the bike for me, Im 20 and it is my first motorcycle.

I had a few comments and questions:

1) Flashpoint and JT, when I hit around 4.5/5k on the RPM I hear the noise also. I have only put 150 miles on my bike so far and was thinking I had done something wrong. Have either of you figured out what it is yet?

2)Being at 150 miles, obviously Im still breaking in the bike. That said, I have hit 6.5/7k on the tach a couple (and I do mean a couple) times. Is this going to hurt the bike in any way? Other than those couple times I have been real good about following the staying under 4k rule.

3) What kind of gas mileage should I expect? I saw somewhere, possibly in this thread, an estimate of 60 mpg. Is that right?

Finally, a general question:

Does anyone know if the Icon jackets run small? As in if I normally wear a large I should get an XL? I was looking into the motorhead jacket, I found 2 on ebay, each for 100 dollars below the msrp from what seems to be an established seller. Hopefully someone looks at this since there hasnt been any activity in August, and we are nearing the end of the month. Thanks!

I heard right now in the Chicago area is about 3 year wait. If you want to spend $280, call a Harley dealership. You can probably take it next week. I took it at Zylstra in Elgin a couple years ago. Say what you want about Harley's, all the people there were great and it was a lot fun. And it was great because it was all adults, no kids. (no offense if you are kid)

On another note, I had my 500r for 2 years and I loved it. I just upgraded to a ZX636. It doesnt make me any faster. I just wanted Fuel Injection. And I like the looks. And I love the Ninja name. I hate how all other bikes (and more and more cars) are defined by letters and numbers. All vehicles should have NAMES.

Anyone have a good website for aftermarket parts for the Ninja 500?

Most that I have found have next to nothing for the 500.

Thanks.

Fender eliminator, flush turn signals, 2 into 1 exhaust. I think those are the first things I was thinking of. Also, maybe like levers or mirrors as well.

Since I am going to have my bike stuck inside over the fun Pittsburgh winter, I figured I would at least have some reason to play with it!

Fender eliminator - a lot of people just cut off the stock finder. This is what I put on mine.
Competition Werkes Fender Eliminator Kit

flush turn signals - Bought mine off ebay.

2 into 1 exhaust - Can't help you there, put Sarachu SuperSport Exhausts on mine.
