I did what you said but no code/s were seen on the screen. Actually, the dealer is a very helpful guy so i'll just have them check it out but i thank you very much for the thought of ECU alone cuz i had no clue. I do not know who actually installed the pipe and it is quite possible that they did not run the "map" as some have said on another website. Earlier when i talked to a guy who "knows" motorcycles by virtue of working in the parts dept, he had no clue either. You seem to think that my after market pipe is responsible for this, right?

Hey zedx11, i thought of informing you that the shop and I both now believe that the idle on my ZX10R was set too low that resulted in engine shutdown or motor shutdown as i reported earlier; also, in lieu of this and the new Leo Vinci pipe (slip-on) that we put on the bike, we are going to install the power commander and dyno the bike; there were no codes as i informed you before. Your thoughts?

What are the top ZX-14 forums/web sites out there.
I had a FZ1, and FZ1OA.com was the big dawg on that block. XR650L was ThumperTalk. There is a new girl in town now, and need to find "the site." |

zedx11, this idle observation i reported was occuring periodically but not all the time. The engine would run like drrrrrrrrrr--drr--drrrrrrr-drrr when it did this. So, we do not have an objective measure of what you asked. And when it ran well, the sound was continuously even: drrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrr and without any pitch irregularities. Absent any other apparent cause, we were going to set the idle at a higher rpm per specs but i decided to have the PC with dyno mapping. Thanks.

The RPM had been dropping below 1k before but we set it to closer to 1.5-2k now by my expert. It sounds perfectly even unlike before and there has been noissue since. We are still going to install PC and dyno it on a rainy day.

no way it should be idling at 2K. your "expert" isn't. don't know if I would trust him to put the powercommnader on or not if he doesn't know not to set the idle rpm that high.

zedx11, hold on for a sec. what I wrote was MY impression of the idle, He had told me that the idle was set according to the book but did not say the number cuz I wanted my bike back while he was gone and another guy set the idle. At any rate, they will have the bike back in the shop on Thursday and I will be on top of things. They will install the PC by my request and I will also be there at the dyno shop with my tech. These guys have services all my bikes for more than 20 years and never failed me. I will get you all the readings. You seem to be an expert and I do respect that very much.

zedx11, do you even have doubts about what I think of you? I am not a mechanic but I grew up with one (my Dad). I think that you have plenty of knowledge and credibility, at least with me. I'd bring my bikes to you in a heart beat. Listen zedx11, I admit I am a bit confused from riding an inline and a twin both next to each other. The truth is that everyone is now ****ed at me and I don't even know why. I apologise if i offended you by even the slightest implication of your technical judgement. I'll take the Alford plea to ignorance. btw, you would be a great lawyer, IMHO. Oh, i do stand by my quotes based upon my own eyes and ears.

no need for that. I took no offense to your posts. I have been wrong before and more than likely will again...many times.

"cruiser guys are an odd breed..." Posted by zedx11
Oh wow, so i'm not the only one who gets a strange stare, even condemnation from them? They sure seem to despise good gear and helmets probably because they wear none. I know that the Harley guys simply can't approve of a Termignoni exhaust but then I equally am repulsed by Harley pipes. |

Nope xedx11, i haven't read your older posts, just babbling here during a break before taking out the ZX that has not received much attention today. btw, have you tried Ducati 1098 yet and if so, what is your opinion?
