It is the stock pipe...However, it has a good sound. It is very legal.

I didn't have the frame painted the previous owner did it. It was one of the reasons I got this bike. The red and black just pop...Everyone who ever sees my bike just can't believe how good it looks in person. My first choice was a CBR 600rr in black. This bike though had so much trick stuff that I could not refuse what the owner was asking - $5k. The Suspension (front and back) alone is well over $1500. However, I did price out how much to powder coat my rims red...$170!!! Cheaper than getting new PVMs for $2k. That is just one other thing I am considering for the summer and to red anodize my rear sets and as much as I can fit in a box is only $70. I am thinking of TRONing my bike but that would be to much. I did however get my red shift rod in today. I am going to put it on tomorrow. You could probably go somewhere to paint your frame for a reasonable price depending on where you live. I have not yet even approached one of my customers who does powder coating.

I see a lot of Akrapovics, Yoshi, and Arata. Irish carbomb just got an Akrapovic. PM him and ask why he got it over others. I am leaning toward a micron (for color and decent sound - shop owner's wife has green one on her 600rr and he said it is good as well) but after I saw the new GP style Microns (like the one on the new gixxers) in the yet unreleased Two Wheel Tuner (shop advertises there and they showed me advance copy), I have decided to wait until they retrofit for my bike year - I hope they do. I am going to their site now actually.

I was looking at the Akrapovic also but I think it going to be Muzzy. For now at least. A buddy of mine just bought the Yoshi pipe and I'm waiting for him to out it on so I can see how it sounds since he has the same bike.

Those MotoGP style exhaust are sweet but my bike has an undertail exhaust so it really wouldn't look right.

Default Washed the bike, won't start

Last week I started up the bike for spring, it ran and idled perfect. After washing my car, I decided to wash the winter dust off the bike too. Now it won't start.

It cranks over fine, and I can smell fuel, so I'm guessing it's a spark issue. Checked all the fuses (which are fine). Everyone once in awhile it is pop as if it's trying to start, but won't keep firing.

Any suggestions? I really, really appreciate the help!

Default 2001 ZX9R Help Please!!

Hi all,
I have only had my ninja for a week now, and already it is giving me grief!!

I am hoping someone here can help me solve this problem I have..

I picked her up last week, she rides beautifully, I had no problems, then I stopped to gas her up, and when I returned to take off, there was nothing, no clicks, no turn over of the engine, just a big fat O.. I called my husband and he jump started her, and right up until yesterday everthing was fine...

Yesterday we had trailered her up to a track and I was looking forward to getting her out there, started her up and all seemed well, and then she just stopped running, and showed signs of a dead battery!!!

We had friends that were there to ride, and so we tried the jump start again, but nothing!!! We stripped her down to practically nothing, found the ignition fuse had blown, we replaced the fuse, and just as she started up again, she died in the butt pretty much straight away!!! Grrrrrrr

The general consensus is that she is earthing somewhere, is there anyone here that knows this problem and how we can fix it????

She won't push start, jump start or even start by hot wiring, just keeps blowing the 10 amp ignition fuse!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Shona

Default I need help!

I'm looking to buy a 1989 zx6r and don't really know much about bikes. It has 27,000 miles and i'm concerned that is a lot for a bike, can anyone help me out there and how many miles does a bike usually get up to before it crokes? What would a good price be for a bike like this that has never been layed over and in good shape? Thanks

Smile Fuel Consumptiom

If you are getting approx 200miles on a tank dont complain. I keep accurate service histories for my 2003 (purchased late 04) ZX636-R.
The best consumption was 208 miles on 18 litres and the worst 119 miles on the same quantity.

The good numbers where obtained on a 1750 mile round trip to a major South African rally. Average speed was kept to approx 80mph.

Worst number was also a rally trip but never really got below 120 mph.

OOOps sorry, only in RSA can we get away with that.

Your juice drinking does not sound at all bad to me.

Cheers

Try kbb.com to find the "price" used. Then bring a friend who has riding experience to check it out and take it for a ride. Also read this...
