Default KZ electronic tach

Ok I realize this may be the wrong section of the forum but it was as close as I could get. I'm building a Trike and using parts from everywhere. My gauges came off a 1979 KZ 750. I'm using a KZ 900 front wheel so the speedometer will work fine but I'm using a Porsche engine to power this thing. No place to plug in the tach cable. I'm hoping someone will know where I can find an electronic tach that looks and mounts like the original. Does anyone know of anyplace that sell anything like that?

thanks
al

it could be the exhaust valve moving, it may be stiff from cold weather, its located under your seat, it has a cable thats driven by a electric solenoid under your seat, to a exhaust valve in the Muffler, it can make noise, if it gets loose ( bad ) or just needs some lube.

dont take it off however, if you screw up the position it will throw a code, and the service light

heres what you do, take the plate off, keep turning the key to the "on" position untill the pointed end hits where it says on the Muzzy manual, then put the plate back on, once you have it on right, unplug the battery and leav it off for an hour, hook it back up and start it up, your problem should be solved.

Default 636 '05 Flush Mounted Signals in '03 bodywork?

Introduction:
One of my bikes is an '03 636 (silver) that I purchased a little over a year ago. Love the bike. I primarily use it for track days and have never had complaints with its capabilities. At this point, even in its stock config, I'd say all of my riding problems sit squarely on my shoulders and not the bike's.

Question:
Though it is primarily for the track, I still do sometimes take it out on the street and, hence, I need to keep the blinkers on it. I've never been happy with the look of front turnsignals (or any of the aftermarket flush mounts, for that matter). I intended on getting some '05 aftermarket flush mounts (the "european" variety) and shoe-horning them into my '03 bodywork but I had never seen this done before. (I tried searching this forum but found nothing. I apologize if this is an over-discussed topic and I was only using the wrong keywords)

Never seen it before, until now, that is. A gentleman on ebay is selling this bike and it appears to be an '03 with flush mounted turnsignals that would fit '05 bodywork.

Has anyone done this mod before? Any suggestions on where to look for more info?

Thank you for your time,
Jeremy

Default slip on exhaust

I recently bought an akrapovic evolution full system with carbon fiber can. Love the sound and the look. However I lost a lot of torque. I asked a few experts and they said on my 03 zx6r aftermarket headers are not the way to go. Keep the stock headers and get a slip on. Anyone else hear of this? I have a pcIII i set it up for that exhaust. Now im gonna try putting the headers back on and get an akrapovic slip on cuz i do love the sound and look, if anyone wants the full system for race applications let me know itl be on ebay soon for about 900. Its a 1500 dollar system 4to2to1 titanium and carbon really light

hello to all, I'm new on this forum. I was just wondering if anybody has achieved their top speed on their zx6r. I have an 01 and I top out at 150mph and it's not even red line, I'm at around 12-13000 rpm. Now I got a k&n air filter and a scorpion end can on it, but if I get it rejetted with stage one kit, will that help on my top end. Also, anybody knows of getting the power delivery a little more aggresive, it revs out slower than my buddies fuel injected bikes, now tires, I got the dunlop 207rr on it and at aggressive cornering, they tend to skip, I spun the rear at 80mph on a medium pace sweeper and throw me up the seat. Has anyone tried any tires that does not get too iffy once you're on the pegs? Please help?

am running the bridgestone bt 020 and not had any problems but the 014's are softer but wear out very quick if used hard.
i had 150 out my 1995 zx6r and it still needs setting up for the exhaust thats on.

when you hit 150 was it gonna push more or that was it? If it was at what rpm? Like I said, mine was about 1500 rpm from redline but that was it, it wouldn't go any faster, you think the rejetting will help with that issue? One of my riding buddies have a cbr 600 f4i and he hit 174 on that so you see I got to catch up with them and that's where I need the tires because of the turns to catch up to them.

you see my other riding buddy rides an R1 and he said, since I spend most of the time fully throttled just to keep up with him, he recommends to move on to the big liter bikes.

as far as your suspension setting, I get mine done by my local mechanic over here that used to be mechanic for one of the ducati british superbike racing team, I told him what I wanted out of the bike what it was doing and he set it up for me, My front end used to be sloppy at above 120mph but he did something to the suspension and now all I got to do is lean into the tank and I just go all out. I read on earlier part of this forum though that one of the magazine have recommended suspension settings you can try that if not get it professionally done, it's well worth it.

michilin pilot powers rock. they have excellent traction, quick warm up times, great wet weather traction (just in case) and they are a composite so they also have great durability.

Default I have a question about the ZX9R

I have a 1984 Ninja 900a and am trying to rebuild it. I need to locate a shop manual or routing diagram for the fuel lines and carb/vac lines. Do you know of a free manual website or maybe one with a downloadable manual. Or maybe you have the manual and could email me a pix of the diagram I covet( ). Please reply to my e addy @ AZepedahere@hotmail.com I'd appreciate any help you or anybody else could give.

Default Height Adjustment

Hey guys, I've recently begun riding my fiance's 500R and am now hooked on getting a bike of my own. I scanned through all 13 pages of this thread and only saw a few casual mentions of lowering the height on different bikes. I'm looking at getting a ZZR-600, but I am only about 5'2

On the 500R, which has a listed seat height of 30.5 inches, I'm on the balls of my feet. The ZZR-600 has a listed height of 32.3, but on the Kawa site under specs for the 600, it says front suspension is fully adjustable /4.7 in and Rear Suspension has a ride height adjustment/5.3in. I was just wondering if anyone has any input on how feasible it would be to adjust the riding height of the 600 down to 29-30 inches.

Thanks!

Default Height adjustment

I too am curious about this as I am reletively short as well. I have looked into the lowering links for the rear suspension. And I have heard about cutting the forks for lowering the front. But hell if there is a adjustment... even better! Any one have any clues on this?

I am also looking into changing the stock 89 ninja ZX600R 90 series tire to a lower profile 60 series tire. I know this will bring it down about an inch and a half too. But stock this thing sits up pretty high. Some adjustment would be nice...
