Hello everyone I am new here and I just purchased my Black 06 zx6R on the June 6. I have a few questions hope you do not mind.
1. I bought the bike in SC and then two days later I had to drive it back up to Va (i am stationed there). I was wondering if that would affect the break in period. I put over 100 miles on it in the two days before the long trip. The trip was over 500 miles though. any thoughts on if I screwed up the break in or not. 2. I am looking for a new exhaust for my bike just doesnt sound mean enough any suggestions. 3. Was wondering if anyone else is having prob. starting there bike from a cold start. What I mean is when I crank my bike for the first time of the day it never stays cranked on the first turn. Well it will crank turn over for about a second and then turn off. All help or comments will be appreciated although my bike is now in the shop for the 600 mile maintenance so i can not ride... ![]() |

Technical question.... Can anyone help PLEASE... I am freaking out here.... Ok here is the run down... My 1989 ZX600R Ninja was running about 2 weeks ago, but was sluggish and non responsive over 6k rpm. It had been sitting for a year when I purchased it. Solution: Remove the carbs and clean them. Now in the process I also removed all of the CA smog crap. Carbs have been reinstalled and are very clean. Here is where the problem lies... It wont freaking run. It will fire and turn over with quick start, but will not continue to run. It is acting as if it is getting no fuel. And to solidify that theory I pulled the main fuel line from the tank and it is almost dry. Did I hook something up wrong??? Did I cap off the wrong vacuum port??? Do I have the main fuel line going to the wrong place??? Now to help I thought I would go and pick up a Clymers manual... This was freaking useless!!! 25 bucks to tell me how to rip appart the carb... Which I already know how to do... Anyway, I will quit rambling. I just need help...!@%@##@!

heya, i have a 06 zzr600 and i can never start it on the first turn from a cold start. ever. i always have to use the choke & crank it a couple times, then it will stay running. dont know if thats how they all are but it seems to be a common thing on this bike anyone else have a problem with stalling at stop signs or is that just my crappy driving? (ive only been riding like 4 months? and not to often as it was being painted for a whole month of that) but it seems that alot of times when i downshift from 5th to 1st to stop and then start to go again i stall. not sure if i am letting the clutch out to fast or ? when i first leave the house its fine, only after ive ridden a bit & then stop & go i seem to stall out alot. its very frustrating ![]() |

No I have had no problem with the stalling problem but it sounds to me that it is probably more operator error unless it is your idle. Does it only happen when you go to take off? Also relating to the answer above you do cut your choke off right. That might affect it after a while...

anyone know if it's possible to recalibrate a speedometer on a 99 ZX9R? if so, could any Kawi dealer do it? I recenty purchased a 99 ZX9R, and it's got different sprockets both front and back.. (I was told +1/-3.. I think, can't remember off the top of my head) but needless to say, my speedometer is WAY off.. at 80mph, it's showing right around 100-105mph.. which isn't too big of a problem, but it's also throwing off the odometer.. anyways.. I'd call the local kawi dealer, but I work from 8am till 8 or 9 at night.. so calling durring those hours is usually pretty difficult for me.. anyways.. any info is appreciated!! thanks all.. and ride safe..

speaking of insurance, holy crap you guys are getting cheap rates. you're saying that 900 is high but compared to my quotes its good. so right now neither of the bikes we have our insured, for my zzr600 they want like 2300 to insure it and thats every 6 months, i am almost 30 , tho i do have a couple tickets , however my girls bike, the ninja 650r, they wanted 2600 to insure and while she was only 24 at the time of the quote she has a perfect driving record...that was with basic coverage but 10,000 in med payments so we can legally go without helmets...tho we wear them anyway but wanted to option to go without if we so choose too.

Go with an akrapovic slip on. Dont get the full system!!! you lose too much torque for everyday riding but akrapovic looks great and sounds great and boosts hp without loosing too much torque. you will lose a bit because your stock pipe has a butterfly valve and aftermarket doesnt but you will be pleased with the look, sound, and high end hp |
