i agree with ervins, the less carbon fiber the better even though my slip on is carbon fiber it have a different look to it not being that black color...those black chrome windshields are pretty slick too i might add

I'm still deciding. I agree, though, the black chrome windscreens look cool. And, I can't seem to find the site that was selling the CF windscreen, so I might end up black chrome after all.
I just bought a new pair of Alpinestars SMX riding gloves, and they are really nice, so if anyone's looking at gloves, check those out. Now, I live in hot country, so the ventilation is nice, but I don't think these will work so well in colder country. However, I'm heading up to Colorado tomorrow, so I'll find out!

Have a 95 6R. Want to know if I can upgrade front and side fairings with 00+ fairings. Do the bolt patterns and air intake match? Have opportunity to buy scrapped parts for 00 6R...just wondering...thanks

Hi, all, new to the forum.

And new to bikes as well. It's been a lifelong dream of mine, and now I can finally realize it.

Am about to buy an 06 636 - I'm waiting for my pinkslip to come through so that I can actually drive the bike home from the dealer when it comes in!

Have been into bikes since I was a boy but have never ridden anything bigger than my 50cc scooter!!! (Those are pretty big here in Italy). Well, drove a Honda Transalp 650 when I took my lesson a few weeks back and felt like I'd been riding all my life (except under 10 km/h where it got quite wobbly!), then again the Transalp has 50 horses and the Kawa has 130

I know that I need to treat the bike with respect, especially the first few months that I'm just getting used to it... anything in particular that I should watch out for???

Oh and another question... am a little undecided between the 636 and the 599. Dealer told me the 599 was more of a track-bike, in that low end grunt was lower than the 636 but after 10K revs the grunt is mind-boggling... am I making the right choice for a first-timer?

I would have said to get an older 600...However, if you keep it real and take your time, you will be fine on your bike. I prefer the 600rr over the 636 because it is geared differently for the track but the differences are very negligible and since you seem fairly new to riding, you will not notice it much initially. Congrats on the new bike and welcome to the forum.

Default Welcome And Happy Riding

BENVENUTO

EITHER WAY I BELEIVE YOU HAVE A GREAT CHOICE. NOT TOO SURE ON HOW THE RODES ARE UP IN ITALY OR YOUR LOCAL POLICE, BUT ENJOY THE RIDE AND TAKE CARE.

ARRIVEDERCI, DIVERTIRSI..........

Thanks, ervins and casanova.

The roads here in the north of Italy are SUPERB for biking - we've got the entire Alps to go have fun in! I live in Milan, they're about half an hour's ride away from where I live, it's great.

As to the police, you need to know the area and know where they are. I know the roads around here pretty well so I know where I can speed and where I can't, it shouldn't be a problem.

As of about an hour ago, I am now the proud owner of a spanking new 636

If everything goes smoothly, I should be able to pick it up on Saturday

Anything I should watch out for my first ride with the bike?

Default Good Choice

I WOULD SAY THE ONLY THING YOU SHOULD BE CAREFUL OF IS THE AMOUNT OF POWER YOU WILL HAVE AT YOUR FINGER TIPS.

RIGHT FROM THE POINT OF DROPPING THE GEAR DOWN TO FIRST GEAR AND PULLING AWAY FROM THE DEALER, THE BIKE WILL JUST WANT TO GO.

TAKE IT REALLY EASY UNTIL YOU BECOME VERY COMFORTABLE ON THE BIKE, JUST REMEMBER, "DONT RIDE IT LIKE YOU STOLE" BUT HAVE FUN WITH IT DURING THE BREAK IN POINT. CONGRATS TO YOU ON YOUR NEW VENTURE.

TRY POSTING SOME PICTURES WHEN YOU GET IT.

Thanks again for the tip, casanova, I will definitely take your advice and take it easy... also like you say the break-in period will psychologically help me not to open it up like a madman from the get go!

Will definitely post some pics when I get the bike.

What bike do you have, and how is riding in the Highlands? Maybe one day when I make the trip up to follow the whisky trail, we can go for a ride together... before following the trail that is

Congrats!!! ***Claps*** You did well in my book. Just take it slow initially and practice in a controlled area. Do not bite off more than you can chew and you should be fine.

Default how to adjust front ride height?

I just bought a 1998 ZX7R that has been set up for drag racing and is lowered way low. I need to know how to work the front shocks to raise the ride height back up. If anyone know's I would apreciate it. Thanks

Triple clamps up front are where to start It was definitely lowered there and probably lowering links in the rear. Some draggers have the front held up with hooks of some sort that I saw when I was dropping my bike but it seemed to be dragger specific...Hope that helps. BTW lowering links of the common variety have three holes if there is a lowering link in the rear you will see that...Stock link has one hole.

There are a ton of aftermarket flushmounts...However you have to pick which one you want to put on...Keep in mind most are not DOT approved. Mine aren't eventhough they are bright as heck.
