Do you live in South Africa, chucky? Or does SA stand for something else? (Sorry if that's an American acronym for some state or city... I'm European But I did live in South Africa for 5 years...)

Nice one about the transponder, makes things a lot easier.

Did you manage to sort out the shift light, or is the mechanism different to the 06?

BTW, if your son is anything like me... don't tell him you rode the bike around before handing it to him

Yip South Africa. Some of the best biking weather I think you will agree I'll check out the shift like tonight but I'm sure it will work. Nah, I'll just keep quite and ask him for a ride later on It's going back into storage tonight for a few weeks. I'll miss it

you rascal you...

Whereabouts in South Africa are you? I was in Jo'burg from 89 to 94 (no my family's leaving had nothing to do with the elections). I used to get jealous as hell when my dad would take me to Fourways to play golf on Sunday mornings and we'd pass by a street corner where a big group of riders was always assembling for their Sunday ride... I always dreamed of being one of them one day... and here I am! Different continent, but it makes little difference!

Can't wait to let us know your son's reactions and... um... ja... don't forget to ask him to lend it to you just to get a feel for what it's like

Default Clutch cable

Who knew a clutch cable could be so hard to find? I pull out of the office parking lot last night, get ready to hit hard in second, and felt something wrong with the clutch. Pulled in and out a couple of times, and, stang! No more clutch cable. Luckily I could stop before the major intersection I was approaching. Called 7 stores, 3 Kawasaki dealers, and no one carries a clutch cable for a 2002 ZX9R! Finally asked one parts guy what the deal was and he told me that clutch cable only fits my bike, so they don't carry one in stock! Got picked up, drove a truck to work (groan), and finally found one in the city, about 35 miles away. 30 minutes after day's end, I'm riding home. The moral of the story is, if you have a 2002 ZX9R, and you've got some miles on it, you might want to buy a clutch cable and keep it on hand, before you end up having to order one and wait days to ride again.

If any of you zzr riders are having trouble starting your bike withthe clutch pulled in I found out today from the tech at the dealership that if a problem develops it will get to the point that your bike will not start at all. It is apparently a common problem with the clutch switch on the model.http://http://

Default New to the forum bought 1994 Ninja 600R

Hi Folks, I bought my 1st bike recently to learn with. I am in my low 30's and also wanted to have a motorcycle. SO I found this bike for sale on Craig's list for $800.00 in my town. It is a 1994 Ninja 600R with Cobra exhaust system and custom seats and custom knee pads. The bike appears to have ~9,500 miles and after I changed the plugs, oil and pumped some new gas into it, it runs great. The old plugs were horrible and one was not seated all the way down. Tires are good, but I need to replace the rear brake pads shortly.

I also had the right rear passenger peg bracket replaced. And I had the Driver's left peg bracket welded (aluminum) to fix a large crack in it. Next I installed some flush mount turn signals, the OEM ones had been broken off. And I went to the stealership and bought some mirrors since it was missing both of them.

I blackened the right generator cover...it is whitish in the picture. and the left side generator cover needs replaced because it cracked a little bit when I laid it down on some gravel.

Where is the best place to get USED parts for this bike? A Ninja salvage yard? ANybody have some old Ninja parts they do not need?

Thank you - Scott

I searched and didn't find anything directly for a 1994 Ninja 600R.... In regards to the fuel reserve switch on the side of the left knee pad, how does that work. I can place the arrow in three directions:
1st) Pointing straight up
2nd) Pointing horizontal
3rd) Point sttaight down.

I am just not sure which direction I should ride it in and when to move it to get additional fuel when it runs out. Thank you

Give me til tomorrow and I can tell you. My 900 has the same petcock. And everyone, check out this site:
http://www.buykawasaki.com/Default.a...ctVehicle.asp?
They have a way to purchase owner's manuals for all Kawasaki bikes, and they have parts diagrams and part numbers on-line. I've been able to get anything I've needed from this site, and either purchase or find it on the web!

Default Fuel Petcock

Should be the same as my 600 A2----

Reserve ------0------Prime(dont leave on, will flood out)
|
|
On
There is no off position, when in the on or reserve position the gas is controller by engine vacuam. If you leave it on prime it will flood out at stop lights, and use way too much fuel when cruising(only get about 100 miles a tank). I had a problem with the vacuam line to the petcock, it took me a while to figure out the thing was sucking itself shut(line). Put nylon tubing in there no problems since. but I had to leave it on prime to run at all before i fixed it.

Hi, I have a 2001 ZX6R and I wrecked it 4 months ago. I have fixed everything on it and finally fired up the engine about 1 & 1/2 weeks ago. I went up and down my block just to check that everything was working fine meaning brakes and everything. I finally took it for a longer ride yesterday and when I get to about 3rd or 4th gear, it starts bogging out like as if its not getting enough fuel. My bike by the way is carburated. Does anyone know what it may be?

Default Radar/Laser detectors

I've been thinking about installing a radar/laser detector on my ZX9R. Any suggestions? I already have a power source wired, so that's taken care of. TIA.
