I have a very silly question, how to know the difference between direct injected and carburated engines, by looking at the manf specs?
EDIT also, do the bikes that have Direct Fuel Injection have chokes? Last edited by moods : 03-18-2007 at 12:52 PM. |

Just bought a 05 ZX-6R...
First bike and it has GoodRide (i think) SS brake lines, anything I should know about them, is the stopping power that much more than stock? Is it soo much more I should be conscience of them? Last edited by BobbyZX6R : 03-20-2007 at 12:26 AM. |

i got a couple of questions there probably obvious to those firmiliar with the bike but im to new to know the little things just yet. ok 1.st what could be making the tach bounce at around 8k rpm to 10k rpm when i try to redline in neutral? im not trying to pop my motor im just trying to figure this out before i find out on the highway. and 2 i need to find cheap fairings for the bike also its a 1993 zx6-E and i failed to mention in question 1 that the bike had been sitting over a year with 1/8th tank of gas, could this make it run crappy?

Yes, leaving gas in the tank for a few months can make it crappy. Condensation gets into the gas...just run it out and fill it again with new stuff and it should run a lot smoother. I don't know if the gas is the answer to your tach jump, but it is a possibility I think.

Sorry guys, not sure if this is the right spot for this question. I did do a search but couldn't find much on the Zephyr.
I have a 1990's Zephyr 750 (well, it's not actually mine, I'm babysitting it for a friend). For some reason, when I put the bike in first gear from neutral, the clutch isn't working and the bike stalls. If I put the bike in first when the engine is stopped and pull in the clutch, there is no drag if I try and push the bike. The bike seems to ride okay and there's no problem with gear changing once I'm moving. So, is it clutch adjustment or is there something else at play here? Anyone got any ideas.. |

Hey Dexy!
I had a 90 model 550 Zephyr for many years and occassionally had this problem...only on cold starts though. If I didn't let it warm long enough, when I would put it in first gear, it would lurch and die (and I still had the clutch lever pulled in!). I never did find the root of the problem; I always suspected the clutch plates were a bit sticky, but it happened infrequently enough that I never followed through on it. BTW, let me recommend the folks here for all things Zephyr: http://www.zephyr-zone.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl If they can't help you, nobody can!

Hey everyone, I'm new the to forums and I am looking to buy a 1994 Ninja 600R off of a local guy. The problem with the bike is, it's missing the upper fairing (including windshield, headlight, and front fender), and it has sat for 2 years. I'm having a hard time finding the fairings for it, and also what kind of things should I look into for a bike like this? He is only asking $250, and I"m going to start an offer at $150, since I'm broke and need money to start college in the fall. Thanks in advance.

Bought a 98 zx7 last week, and been tooling around on it for a little while in parking lots and such.
One of the only problems with the bike was that the brake lights were not working, so yesterday I decided to tackle the task. Got the front brake sensor working and good to go, and whilst troubleshooting the rear brake sensor, I found that it was hanging by the wire tucked up underneath. Great. So the brake mount on the bike was replaced with an aftermarket one by the previous owner, so I can't figure out how to bolt it on, or how the little pin (when you pull on it, brake lights come on) connects to the brake assembly. Any help is appreciated, Thanks! -poz |

Ok, I feel like the salesman at the dealership just tried to tell me anything to get me to buy. The minute I mentioned I would be back in about 2 weeks after my refi settlement he blew me off! None the less, the original plan was to go with the zx10 but for the amount of time I will be riding and the cost savings / monthly, I have decided to just stick with the 6. I had a zx7 back in the mid 90's and I am sure the new 6's are just as fast as that was. None the less, I have been looking for fender deletes and they all seem to keep the stock light and location. Is there something that tucks it further back and lessons all the crap hanging off the back of the bike? Also, I am not a big fan of the single pipe sticking out under the seat and was curious if anyone makes a dual set up for the 6. I also have not found a seat cowl for the 07 y6 yet either. Lastly, and I just got to know, was the flame package on the black 07 zx10 considered to be a special edition? That is what I was told and was also told that they ran about $300 more than the standard. I am asking as I really wanted a green one and it did not come out until later than he simply did not have on. Not to offend anyone here but I think it looks like butt and feel they were/are having a problem moving them which is why he was willing to "drop the price" on the special edition. If you guys have any ideas please let me know as I am trying to roll an exhaust into the price of the bike to keep it all hidden to the wife if you will.

That is the bike for sure. I can not stand the flames but they did not have one sitting on the floor. They were all still in the creates. I am however deciding to just go with the 6 instead. For all the idiots I have seen riding out on the streets I seriously think this is too much bike. I will also save some money going with the 6 in the long run. Right now I am looking at doing the 129/mo for 24 months. After that the rate jumps up and you still have a big ballance left. My goal is to pay double on the bike over the 24 months so that there is not much left on it when the rate goes up. I am also waiting to hear back from Two Brothers w/ regard to their twin can exhaust set up. It is listed as fitting the 06 but I am curious about if it still bolts right up to the 07. I am also stuck on the fact that if you are going to have a Kaw that it should be green!

I am sorry what I meant by it being too much bike is that it will be more than what I need. I will be riding it to work 2-3 times a week and really do not have alot of time to go hang out with other riders due to my schedule (wife/kids) so a 6 will be fine. It will also leave a little more money to buy stupid carbon fiber parts for it!
