when i was shopping for insurance, the basic liability coverage was about $130/year, and full coverage was around $2600/year. I'm 20 with a clean driving record and have taken MSF. Hope this helps

Hi All!
I have not logged on for quite some time. Once I got the bike on the road, I just rode and rode and rode… For those of you with `85 - `88 (and maybe later) ZX600s with the pneumatic preload rear shock, you may be interested in this low(er) cost shock swap. I could not find a good working example of a stock shock (struck out 3x) and did not feel like dropping $800+ on an aftermarket unit. After a whole bunch of screwing around and digging through salvage bins, I came up with the following: I found a Yami `04 FZ6 Fazer stock shock which has the right length, OA dia., stroke, and upper attachment. But the lower attachment is not correct. So, I took a stock ZX600 shock and removed (ground) the clevis off the rod end. I had a machinist remove the lower attachment off the Yami shock, make/install a new mounting adapter and then bolted the clevis to that adapter. The Yami has preload adjustment only; no damping. ![]() I don’t know if the stock shock can be removed with out taking out the swing arm, but I wanted to inspect/clean/lube my swing arm & dog bone anyway. The “new” shock fits quite nicely and only just kisses the bottom of the battery box. I set the preload to 1, reassembled the rear and off I went. ![]() ![]() If you weigh less than 220#, you will not be happy with the stock Yami spring; way too stiff. And I would strongly suggest to anyone who repeats this swap to source a softer spring so that you can retain some adjustment in the preload. I have to keep the front forks at setting 3 to “match” the rear and this makes street ridding a little uncomfortable. But, man, it’s nice to go over each bump only once!

I just bought a ZX 6E. It starts fine cold but once it warms up and i shut it off than i have to start it full throttle and hold it there till it revs up. It will idle for a few seconds before it starts loading up. I've changed the plugs, seafoam in the gas and changed the oil. The guy i bought it off of cleaned the carbs. When riding if i keep the rpms up it runs smooth. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks |

Greetings All !!!
I just joined and very excited to be here with you all. I just bought a new 08' ZZR 600 fresh out of the crate. *stoked* Does anyone know of a kit that does away with the stock license plate holder/turn signal molding? I'd like the end result to be my brake light to double as a turn signal. Sorry if i'm not being more descriptive.... |

When I first bought my bike used, it was quite reliant on the Choke and having to have it get up to a warmer than average temp to run smooth. This spring I had the Carbs redone + a New battery. Now she runs great. I'm not a mechanic or I would have done it myself, but Id suggest bringing her in for a Spring Tune up and have them check your carbs? Im a noob, but it sounds like its starving? could be bad fuel/air mixture..? If he was the last to work on the carbs, it might have something to do with his rebuild.. When I was riding home one day, i saw a Dude with a FULL LED tail light kit. Basically a Full Board of LEDS about the same size as the Brake Lights on the back of my ZX-6e '97. Animated Arrows for Turn Signals + ALL LED's Solid for Braking... Honestly, it was way too hard to tell if he was using his turn signals... Not sure what bike he was riding.. wish I knew more to help you out. |

I have been told that Basically, it would become the equivalent of a Liter bike. Save yourself the time and money and get a Zx-14 or Busa. Honestly, 600's are fast enough |

or buy some NOS the bottle is always there for you when you need it!
kits usualy start at 2500$ for a turbo. then youd probably need another grand or two to get it running properly. then you can keep up with stock liter bike!
