Default parts for a ZX6R

I have a 2004 ZX6R thats in pretty bad shape and needs new plastics. i found a guy that is parting out his ZX10R and selling the parts. does anyone know if those plastics would fit my bike?

I have a 1997 ZX6E, been sitting about 7 months while on deployment, replaced the battery, starts, but she cuts out as soon as I add throttle. If I lean the bike in either direction while sitting on it, she cuts out. Drop it in first, she cuts out. Only starts at full choke, and idles at 2000 rpms. I turned the idle screw a little, she has good gas. Only 8,000 miles on her, if anyone can help me get my bike running again, I'd be most appreciative.

you can't go wrong with the 10w-40. that's unless you live in the northeast where a thicker oil might suit your needs. maybe a straight 20 weight.

after letting it sit you might want to drain the gas next time. i had the same prob with my 93 zx7 when i first got it. the o-rings in the carb started corroding, float bowls where bent, and such, making the engine suck in too much fuel, next stop, hydro lock. better take it down and clean it, check the float height and such. hydro lock-BAD news.

Crash, thanks for the reply man, thing is, the bike was shipped out to my next duty station, so for them to even take it, I had to drain the gas. Any more ideas bro, I stripped her down, and tried to clean the carb today.

Default Bike Problems :(

Hey all!

So to my disappointment I took the bike out of storage for the winter. It's a '00 600CC ZX-6R. I went to start uit up put my battery and everything in and I hit the ignition when all of a sudden all the bbike did would crank and drain the battery. So I thought it was my battery I gave it to my buddy to test and he said it was fine. so that leaves me without a clue for what's wrong with it. there's gas in it tho I don't think that has anything to do with it. It seems if I hit the ignition more then 10 seconds it seems to drain the battery.. so any ideas or tips? I would very much appreciate it hoping to get back on the road soon.. thanks!

Hi guys, I'm looking at buying a '92 ZX6D. Going to see it tomorrow. Is there anything in particular I should be checking into with this model?

Ad says it has a new chain, brakes, tires, & cooling Fan. Single owner, he's put about 52,000 kilometers (32,300 miles) on it.

Off the top of my head, I plan on checking out:

No hydraulic leakage on the forks
Tire wear
Scrapes/physical damage
Oil
Check chain for rust
Wiring/make sure everything lights up like it's supposed to
Listen to how the engine revs
Steering radius

Any advice for a prospective first time Ninja owner?

I have a 96' ninja zx6 it has about 10,000 miles on it and has sat in a shed for the last 6 years. I had the carbs rebuilt and sync'd... after about 5 miles down the road the motor just stoped... i checked the fuse and the ignition fuse was popped. I replaced it and it popped again, i then took the junction box off to notice that the circuit board inside is burn't... i was told that it could be my ignition switch... is this possible and are they common to burn out?

Just bought a zzr600 (used) 1200 miles on it about a week ago. The bike ran great for that week, no problems. Last night I ran out of gas (had to put it on reserve) and stalled out. Once I put it on reserve it took a second to suck more gas in but it started fine. I filled it up with "premium" gas from AM/PM (I think that was a mistake to use their gas) and fired it up, it ran fine, I drove it home. This morning I started up the bike, it ran great. I drove it quickly to work (fast) and I didnt notice anything wrong. So then about mid-day I heard gas venting from the gas tank. Its about 95F today so its rather warm. I opened the gas cap and the venting noise stopped. I went to start it up and it acted like it was cold and took a few seconds to start. I was not able to use the choke (even when the bike was warm) because it would stall out. The bike runs fine without the choke so no biggie I guess.

My question is, is it normal for the bike to stall if it is too warm outside and the choke is on? Do any other ZZR600 owners notice the gas venting like that? Did I get crappy gas?

two things come to mind when i hear gas related problems. it isn't the octane or the place you get the fuel. its all the same, unless youre on a track or climbing through mountains. if your gas tank makes te sound like a pop does when you open it up, it's not venting to release the pressure built up from the carbs. so i'd check there first. make sure all the vent tubes aren't kinked or plugged up. next i'd check the fuel filter and make sure it's not all clogged up. only other thing i can think of is your petcock. you said it ran fine when you switched it over to reserve? i'm not quite sure on what style is on your model (theres 3 that i know of) but if it's using a vaccum type petcock, those are considered a wear item and need checking every so often.

another thing to remember here is that all your hoses need to be changed every 4k miles as well. alot of us forget that is all, very frequently over looked. in the warmer climates even more so. there's only so many things that can be wrong with the fuel delivery.

Although with fuel injected engines there's always the possibility of a computer malfunction, most engine problems boil down to three problems: lack of fuel, lack of air or lack of spark. Lack of air usually isn't a problem, unless you've put many miles on the bike and have totally ignored maintance. You can check the spark by taking the sparkplug out and holding it up against the engine while cranking, you should see a blue spark. If you rule those out it is probably a fuel delivery issue. Check all your hoses and make sure you dont have a contaiment in your fuel take. Lastly you might want to try changing out the fuel completely. Sometimes enough moisture can get into the tank over the winter to ruin the fuel, even with fuel stabilizer. This is especially true if you store it with a nearly empty tank.

anyone know the average gas mileage on the 01 zx6r, previous owner told me about 35 but it seems higher than that since ive driven it like 100 miles and havent had to touch the gas tank.

bikes need 3 things to function right? fuel, compression, and ignition. get a multimeter, compression tester w/correct adapter, and carb sync (if more than one carb) FI on the other hand, is all sensors so you just need the codes.

Hey every one,

My buddy just sold me his 2001 Zx600e9

he crashed it and busted up all the cowlings on one side

ive been looking on ebay and cant find anything for my bike,

the only thing i can find is oem parts that are pretty expensive in comparison

to other bikes cowling kits on ebay.

Im wondering if anyone here knows where to get cheaper cowling that are the same as oem for my bike.

Also if anyone knows what other cowlings fit on my bike?
