Tell them to send a Mother Fing REP out to examine your bike Just imagine telling a judge Bike was defective, Kawi told me to keep it. So i was approaching a stop light with traffic and then the bike took off - blasted past 10k rpms and destroyed 3 cars ahead of me - Ran into a crowd of people -Broke through someones house. and ran up a flight of stairs and destoryed someones new 2 thousand dollar bed room Big law suit there Last edited by ManhattanRider : 09-09-2008 at 12:35 PM. |

k everyone sorry for sounding like a noob but
in a sportbike service manual im reading about the "ELECTRICAL SYSTEM" says something about a "MAIN THROTTLE SENSOR" sure it's controlled by your hand but it needs sensors. I guess maybe it's faulty wiring or some messed up ecu trouble - Undetecable by running the tests or connecting to a computer you really gotta take a look at the throttle of the bike - or the sensors. Something complicated..beyond me - you need a professional mechanic...not a clown from the dealership Hey, are you still alive? or did the bike kill you. hoping to hear from you |

that sucks Firestorm.
I hope they come up with a resolution and soon. The season is winding down for riding and I know you are not happy about this at all. Good luck Robert

Dude, get in touch with an area rep. or whatever and tell him flat out you need another bike.
I mean really, this could turn into life and death really fast for you. Bike is jinxed, I would not ride it as it is full of bad ju-ju. "Juju is a word of West African origin that refers to the supernatural power ascribed to an object" Continued luck with your bike.

firestorm34, you may think that they are filling you full of ****, they may be but then again, they may not. let it play out for a bit. lemon law as far as I know is they have to have it for 3 months before you can do anything like that about it.
to the rest of you: why not let them check it out and see what they find? the rep that they will probably end up sending out after the tech can't find any problems will be very experienced and will have contacts at the manufacturer to get help/answers. |

Yeah, have to agree Zed. It's maddening, but better handled with a level head. If you get mad and start making demands, they get defensive and you get nothing. Let them do their jobs, even if they aren't good at it and let them get the rep involved. Kawi will be much more amenable to someone who is asking for something than someone telling them anything. You never know, if they do keep it a while, you may get an 09 to replace it or you may get some swag from kawi for your troubles.
Whatever you do, don't take it back without a thorough explanation and a fix. My hope is they don't drag their feet and try to force you to give up and take it back. That's when attorneys get involved. Take care, Robert

you can get what you want by yelling at everyone you get on the phone but that is not the way to get anything long term from them. I know of several that will have problems ever getting anything like good will help from manufactures. you can get black listed at the manufacturer level to where dealers won't even sell to you.
I'm not saying don't keep on them to find the problem, I'm saying try very hard not to go overboard and start yelling, cursing, bringing up their parentage or anything like that. remember the old saying about catching more flies with honey than vinegar. you wouldn't believe what I've seen the manufactures pay for just to get rid of the customer just to never have to deal with them again. a buddy of mine had one of the first 04 ZX10R's, had a bad case design and cracked. took them over 3 months to get a new case, he got it lemon lawed because they had it too long. keep up on the payments though if you have it financed especially if it's through HSBC. |

ECU check it too
I just lost my brand new zx6r 07 in an accidnet. Bike is destoryed. You don't want a zx10 in an accident...You'd be broken in half. i walked away with some road rash. Just warning you. I had my bike for 1 month and a half |

Actually I agree with the statement. From what I know of the ECU and the SP, I don't think they can physically change the position of the throttle at all. I know the ECU can cut power to one of the spark plugs, but it can't do anything to change the actual throttle. At least that is my understanding of how the system works. The cables and throttle bodies are really the only thing that could lock up. I would ride with confidence, but i would probably keep my thumb ready to flip the switch for a while out of paranoia.
If Kawasaki agreed to replace those parts I am sure they are pretty confident in their diagnosis. Especially since the dealer is worried about your safety and chose to really look into it. My dealer treated me similar with the oil pressure problem. They would rather make me mad keeping the bike in than let it go wondering if there was a problem. Good luck. When do you expect to get it back? take care, Robert

I was thinking the TP sensor (throttle position sensor) giving a false reading or the ECU just messed up and the ECU opening up the sub throttle. probably a long shot but something to think about too.
the ECU never tells on it's self when it goes bad. it always blames something else, the only way to tell if the ECU is bad is to check all the things that it monitors. |

i was told that the TP sensor is part of the throttle body.and it will be replaced when they change the throttle body.what i do have to say is that kaw treated my wife like a **** and did not seem concerned at all about the safety of their riders being me.they said that if noone could find a problem that they where just going to give the bike back the way it was.then my wife got ****ed and all of the sudden they willing to replace the throttle bodies and cable.and they would not take our word that this problem actuly happend.so i have give KAWI customer service F when it comes to talking over the problems with their customer.even after they proof the we were not trying to get over on them.this will more than likely be my last KAW just because of the the way we were treated.still no bike still no answers just alot B.S.

However MR is...well I'll let you decide for yourself. Go to his profile and look up threads posted by him, they are actually quite entertaining. Especially the one about him wrecking his ZX-6 On a side note DO NOT listen to ANYTHING this kid says or suggests he has no clue whatsoever and if you take his advice good luck. Sorry for the jack just had to do a PSA Now back to regular scheduled programming |
