Default I wanna cry!!

Well unfortunately the day has come and Im basically being forced to sell my bike!!! Im not to sure what its gonna be like without a bike since its been so long since I HAVENT had one but as far as me and the next few years (hopefully less) go I will be bikeless! So far the one downside to being in the military, besides the being away from loved ones. Anyways, if anyone is interested in the northern california area here is a link for you to check it out at.

Your bike is gorgeous and there is no way in HELL I would part with it. Why don't you keep it at family/friends place or something ? Just my 2 cents man.

Damn, Kyle, that's a heartbreaker

I hope you don't mind my asking but... do you need the cash, or are you just selling it coz you can hardly ever use it?

If I were you, and I didn't need the cash, I would try and hook up one of those insurances where you can pull the plug and let it sit without having to pay for the insurance, then when you want to use it you just activate it again.

It would be a real pity if you got a couple weeks' leave from the military, you go back home, relishing the idea of hitting the track and riding your baby... and realizing you don't have her anymore

Whichever way it goes man, hope you stick around here! Maybe you can live vicariously through our words

Best of luck and hope you can keep the bike!

What stefano said. I did that for one of my vehicles while I was overseas. (not sure about your state though) but in AZ you can deregister the vehicle and turn in the plate. You still keep the title but there is no requirement to keep insurance on it.

Where are they sending you? I'm sitting at home waiting for my recall letter trying to convince the wife it won't be the end of the world when I go back. (only a matter of time, two of my buddies same MOS, left active duty at same time, just got recalled)

Right now Im sitting in Florida and the bike is in CA which has been the situation since the beginning of the year. Theres a lot of drama going on with street bikes and the military as far as people getting hurt and fatalities. I dont really want to have to deal with the drama off bending over back wards just to please the Navy and what they think I need to do to be a safe ride. But, on the other hand as of yet, its lookin like people wanna give me nuthin but sh*t for money on my bike and although I know Im gonna lose a considerable amount on it, I wasnt planning on losing over half the actual value of the bike so I may just end up keeping it.

Stefano:
I think I half answered your question with the above, but right now that is what Im doing so Im not losing money, bikes at my moms unregistered and on liability insurance. The two biggest problems are getting it across the country and dealing with having a bike and being in the military. Florida also just raised the fines for motorcycle related tickets to some outrageous amounts. Somethin like 1000 and a 3 month license suspension for first offense or somethin insane. I dont know how its gonna work out yet, but putting the bike on the market will help me make a final decision on what Im gonna do with her.

Damn man, that's weird (what the hell has the military got to do with bikes and vice versa???)

Maybe you want to consider keeping the bike for track use only? Hook up a track day once every 2 or 3 months and get your rocks off that way

Unless you ride it in the hallways at work, what does an employer have to say about what you drive or ride?

I have staff, and its not my issue what they drive or ride.

I think I am missing something here.

yea definately a good point. the closest track around here is a bout 3 hours away so its not bad. the whole military/riding deal is that motorcycle fatalities are up almost double/triple what theyve been the past few or so years. Young kids (18-21) are going on deployment and coming back with a lot of cash in hand and buying brand new bikes and goin out and killing themselves. There were 3 fatalities in one weekend about 3 weeks ago in San Diego alone. All these insidents have opened the militarys eyes to the training and experience people have in riding bikes, the majority (somethin like 28 out of 30) people who have died on a motorcycle had no training. So that has come about along with stiffer punishment for just regular traffic violations. So I dont know....we'll see how things go.

But like I said, if people are going to insist that my bike is worth on 7k then I'll just keep the bike and make due with what I can!

When you enlist, you become the property of the government. They can be very particular with their property. I received disciplinary action once cause I let a fellow GI ride my bike. He wrecked and broke his arm. My discipline was for negligence and damage of government property.

Same basic thing with employers and smokers. They reasoned that it cost the employer more in health insurance cost to cover the employee because they were in a higher risk bracket. The Navy/military conclusion is the odds increase that you will be injured and require medical treatment as well as deprive them of your services for a time. NAVY = Never Again Volunteer Yourself.

:scrounging around pockets:

I got a pack of gum, a lighter, 4 pennies, a nickel, and three $1's...I'll throw in a couple kids to mow your lawn too. That's worth more than $5500, right?

Seriously though...sorry to hear you gotta sell but in your situation you're probably doing the right thing. It's never a good idea to have a sport bike sitting around for years on end losing value. Cut your losses now, buy a new(er) one when you're able to stay put for awhile.

A 5500 dollar offer on your bike to me sounds like you are being flipped a bone...(a BS offer). I think you will be upset about it later on if you let it go.

hahaha you got it bro!! sounds good to me! haha but yea Im definately gonna regret it, but it needs to be done. I was running through the scenario of keeping the bike again today and it just gave me a headache thinking of the all the stuff I'd have to do so I think I'll benefit in the long run sellin her now. Of course only to be replaced by somethin even more beautiful later!

I think the guy who wrote it was pretty serious haha it amazes me how much people try and rip you off. Im still taking a big loss selling it anywhere around 8-8500 which is the range in which i'd let it go and people throw out crazy offers like that. Ive always been a big believer in you get what you pay for, and I sparred no exspense, dont know why people think they shouldnt have to to get the same product.
