Default Conti Road Attack follow-up

I'm a little late but I just wanted to follow up on the Conti Road Attacks the way that I promised after I took them on Angles Crest. I had a 180/55 put on the rear (stock is 190/50) and kept the front size stock.

My friends and I did about 110 miles in the Crest a couple of weekends ago and all that I can tell you is that that from now on, I will only be getting the Conti's. I couldn't believe how much more solid the tires felt. When I ordered them the guy at the shop said what will happen is that I will have more grip through the turns because the profile is a little higher than stock which will mean a bigger contact patch. All I can say is that the bike felt "solid" going through the turns--the bike felt "soft" trying to take corners in the street at moderate speeds and forget about feeling solid when going through the twistied (the grip was fine and the handling was good, the bike just felt soft, I don't know how else to describe it). The Conti's felt amazing from the get go and I felt very confident on them. I was actually able to take a couple of my favorite 35 mph turns going 75; with the combination of the road camber and the lean of the bike, I felt like I was almost parallel to the horizon.

I wasn't sure how far I took the tires 'til I took a close look at them after getting home, I actually took them to the edge! So fellow Z1 owners, if you're about 190 lbs. like I am, keep the static sag and the preload stock and set the rebound to 80% stiff both front and rear and get the Road Attacks (with a 180/55 rear) if you ride modest twisties with mostly commuting.

The cool stamp in the middle of the tire was still pretty deep after the ride. I've put a couple hundred more miles on the tires on the LA/OC freeways since then and now it's almost completely gone.

I run them as well... my riding has never exceeded their capabilities. I am really pleased with the performance of the tire and the mileage isn't bad either.

That is the one thing about 55s and 180 tires. It is pretty easy to get them over. 190/ 50s are a pain. I have about 2mm on the right side left and 3mm to left...However, I can't seem to get them over like I did when I was riding 600s. I am going to be doing 190/ 55s for the BT16s I get in a about a month and a half. On my Corsa IIIs after I wore them down more I was able to get over...Good for you and see that is the key about trying other tires. Try more though so you can say ok I like these for sure. I do not think I would ever put 180s on my 10R...A few do but the stability would be a problem for me. That is the one thing about 190/ 50s...They feel stable for me.

SWEET! They are quite confidence inspiring. Still loving my Sport Attacks. I did something similar yesterday. Took some twistys at 70-80mph that were supposed to be 35-45 and it was just effortless. They love to stick! Heard so many good things about the Road A's that i wanna try them now.

I ran the Road Attacks on my mean streak and plan on putting them on the C-14 and ZX14.
