Looks way better than the previous gen. I had an 08' 650 that I traded in with 75 miles because I just didn't feel it was the right bike for me. I think I like the naked version better though. Just my .02.

I've had my 07 650 for almost a year now (Jan 10) and I love it. The windscreen offered almost zero wind protection, soI upgraded to the ZG DB. I've been seriously thinking about the FZ6R as a "next" bike but in addition to my current stable, not as a replacement. The big change in tuning was to increase the low end torque. The new FZ6R is designed with the commuter in mind so the power band comes in a lot lower than with the power plant in original form. I like the upgrades for the 09 650, but I think it has lost a lot of its character. Also, I could do without the fuel gauge - that's what a trip meter is for. I'd much rather have had a temp gauge. Supposedly all the "bugs" from the 06 - 08 650 have been worked out. If I didn't have an 07 already, I'd have bought the 09.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the 650 in any way shape or form. For me it was mostly cosmetic. The front fairing was kinda big and bulky which made it look less sporty, it started to have the dreaded "fairing buzz" that those earlier models had. That has changed for 09'. Power and handling were good, but the ZZR was more of what I was looking for in terms of styling. I like the look of the 09' better, but would probably still lean toward the naked version given the choice. I'm almost certain that the next bike I add to the collection will be a naked bike and the ER-6n will have serious consideration.

If you're gonna go naked you gotta look at the SV. v-twin sounds and performs better than the parallel twin, the SV is about 50 lbs. lighter than the Er-6n, and IMO it just looks a lot better and is more customizable. It sucks that Suzuki got rid of the naked SV and replaced it with that piece of crap Gladius.

Love my '05 650. the rumble of the v-twin had my harley friend going "that thing sounds awesome" but my next bike will be a connie or another sport tourer for wind break at highway speeds.
