I thought the seats were identical on the '09 nomad and voyager.
They might be, but the Voyager passenger seat is a lot different than the 07 Nomad's...especially with the trunk/backrest.

I hope K comes out with a back support for the driver sometime soon.

2009 1700 Nomad
Just got back from a three day run over Logans Pass and down through Kallispell around FlatHead lake and back up through East Glaicier and St Marys, about 941km, wife never complained once. Pretty forgiving seats on this bike. Had about 20psi added to the rear shocks and set the dampning to #4. Rides great. more than enough power.

Yea. I read that article too. Another magazine article said similar things about the Voyager. It may just be hair splitting though.

Default Voyager 1700 Backrest

Those of you that have a New 1700 Voyager can get a backrest from UTOPIA in Ohio. They have a web site that you can order from or telephone for more intricate questions. I believe the cost is around 189-199.00 . They have been making backrests for a number of years for all makes of road bikes.

Their web site gives you the day of manufacture and ship date.

An additional note: There is a Standard model ( non ABS ) model at Rosenau Powersports in Dearborn Hts., Mich. Titanium / Black No price mentioned. Salesman were scarce when I passed through. They usually don't talk anything but full MSRP unless they feel you are ready to buy. Funny place but sell a lot of bikes.

3500 mi on my Voyager, after an 05 Nomad, with 32,000 mi. Voyager much more comfortable, and wife can go 300+ mi on the back while 50 was about tops on the back of the Nomad. Now she rides the Nomad and I got the new Voyager. A bit hot but so are most all v twins, sound system great, low speed handeling fair, great ride with no real complaints

Thanks rstasak.

Funny, no shortage of Voyageurs in The Great White North. Maybe K knows that Canucks are willing to pay more than Yanks????

Got a update from mustang this week. They are beginning to make 1700 nomad/voyager seats, all are one piece touring seats and should be available by Christmas. No information on price or pictures so not sure how they will look. I have used mustang seats and they are really nice well built seats, interested to see price and pictures!!!!

Just leaving for an afternoon haul...will turn 4,000 miles by the time we're back this evening. Other than the original items I mentioned, no gripes so far...same goes for my navigator.

Sat on a Titanium one a couple weeks ago. It was .....OK. Nothing I could put my finger on, but....it just didn't excite me like my 1600 did & still does or like a 2K does. I dunno, just didn't do it for me.

Got mine and it is installed, I had to take it to an upholstery shop though. I didn't have the tools to reattach the cover. But I am happy only cost $30
to have it done.

So far I am very happy with the back rest from Utopia. I am off on a 300 miles run this weekend.

5000+ miles on mine in 3 months, love it. My wife couldnt do over 30 to 45 min on the 05 Nomad, and has done 350 miles on the Voyager in a single day. We have taked two seperate trips to Yellowstone NP in two weekends for the ride and could turn around and do it again with no saddle problems.
Yes it is heavy, and No it can't compare to the GL, but there is notyhing that can, IMO. but look at the difference in $$. I still thing the Voyager is the best bang for the buck in its class.

Bought one 2 weeks ago - almost at 500 miles. Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase. The most important feature of a bike for me is how well it handles. After riding a rented Harley Electra Glide Ultra Classic this past weekend, I have a new found appreciation for how well the Voyager handles. Been riding a Suzuki C50T for 4 years and find the Voyager extremely stable, even at slow speeds. I would rate the Harley's suspension and tranny superior to the Voyager, but the Voyager's is adequate. I haven't experimented with the rear shocks much yet, so still have more testing to do. The rear cylinder does heat up like the reviews state, but so far it's not much of an issue - we'll see how I feel next summer. The gas mileage certainly could be better, but according to another post on this site, it should improve. That's it for now.......will know more once I get past the break-in period!

I bought a bicycle pump and loaded the shocks with 35 pounds pressure. Sure made a difference when the wife is on the back.

Default 1700Voyager 10 weeks 6200 miles

I have been truly happy with my New Voyager. last week I installed my rear speakers. Yes the bike is hot on 90 degree days but now in the fall I had to close my fairing vents. After 6200 miles (10000 Kilometers) The tires still look OK. I am getting about 40 Mpg ( checked with a calculator ) I am hoping for an Indian summer. The only problem I had was the antenna blew off but Kawasaki replaced it for free. I am still waiting for the Ipod connector and hoping for a trunk rack

The Rear Speakers where worth the $300 bucks

I'm interested in hearing more about the rear speakers. You state they were worth it - does it improve the overall sound? I find that the two front speakers just don't cut it.

Overall sound is much better with all 4 speakers. Using the fader control in the radio I have the rear turned up louder than the front. In the installation paper provided by Kawasaki it doesn't mention that you must remove the trunk liner. At the end of the instructions it has listed " reinstall trunk liner" go figure. The trunk liner is the tray at the bottom of your trunk and it is held in by 4 plastic rivets that you need a sharp item to pull up the center pins first.
