I went from an '05 1600 Classic to a NEW (leftover) '11 Voyager 1700. The dealer wanted to sell this bike and GAVE it to me for $15,200. I thought that was a great price. Just brought it back for the 600+ mile service. They contacted Kawasaki for a problem I had. (Cruise control was not working; also Trip meters were not resetting). Kawasaki is replacing the right side control set. Should have it back in about 4 days. I've onlyput about 800 miles on it.. but it' s comfortable. Added highway pegs that allow me to stretch out.. so it's pretty comfortable.. including stock seat. Wife thinks passenger seat is fine as well.

For the price.. I don't think (personal opinion here) you can beat the value. Good luck on your choice. Whatever you decide... RIDE SAFE!

Sounds like the first thing that you're missing is that Harley isn't the only damn bike in the world.

I ended up with a Royal Star Venture. WE were close to a deal on a Voyager but I just didnt feel comfortable with my footing. And the wife after trying out the seat on the Venture felt there was less space. I am glad now I went with the RSV, partially because I have heard some pretty bad "heat" issues for the Voyager and here in central Fl its hot enough without cooking important parts off on the bike.

I just stepped up from an 06 Vulcan 1500 Classic about a week ago. I am very happy with the purchase. It is no comparison to my old bike on the hwy. I am 6'6" and look well above the windshield but experience no buffeting wearing any kind of helmet. You will notice a bit of belt whine and a firm solid clunk when she shifts, but that's just the nature of the beast. My 1500 had some rattling and clanging going on in the motor, but I just put louder pipes on it. I feel no need for louder pipes yet on the voyager as the motor itself is fairly quiet. It isn't the snappiest unit going until you rev it up to around 3000, but it cruises beautifully. I don't have a heat issue either as some have reported but it does run a little warm when in stop and go traffic when the fan pretty much runs steady (at least there is a fan). I say go for it and don't look back

I just sold my 2009 Street Glide and bought a 2010 Voyager. The streetglide had a better stereo and roll on power but that was about it. I could not get passed the vibrations the Streetglide had. Maybe its' becuase I have owned metrics my whole life. The Voyager does have a heat issue but I dropped my bike off at the dealer today to have the new heat kit installed. Hopefully that will help. Besides that I think its the best bike I have ever owned.

I buy and sell bikes on the side so I have owned every size shadow, all the VTX's, C50's, C90's, Nomad, Street Glide and a few others.

I've had my (leftover 2011) Voyager since April and have put about 6,000 miles on it. I agree, for the most part, it is a great ride. Still have the stock seats and exhaust. The seats are extremely comfortable. I had mustang seats on my 2005 Vulcan 1600 Classic. I'd say the stock seats on the Voyager are every bit as comfortable as the 1600 mustang seat. The cruise control is a nice feature, as is the gear indicator. That should be standard on any bike with 6 gears. Speaking of gears, the next version needs a Reverse. This is one heavy bike and if you get yourself in a situation where your front end is 'down' with no place to turn around... it can be a challenge to move the bike backward. I've had a couple of issues. One, with the cruise control. It never worked from the get go. I had to leave it with dealer to order and install new unit. that took about a week. Another issue I have is with my IPOD connection. It works fine for a period of time and then just hangs. I have to reboot the IPOD to get it to work thru the comm system. Don't know if it's an IPOD issue or a a cable issue. Bought the cable online. I also was a bit surprised by the 'lack of response' in getting off the line, as well as roll on power even at higher speeds. Yes, this is a heavy bike, but I thought Kawi would have taken that into consideration. I am thinking of replacing my stock exhaust with some V&H slipons. Hoping that may improve acceleration. Also, I'll be purchasing the Kawasaki Air Management System (KAMS) next spring. It's now available from Kawi for about $400, plus installation. The heat during the peak of the summer, even here in New England, was substantial. On the plus side, it forced me to wear better footgear. I'm averaging just below 40 MPG overall. That's a range of about 180 miles before having to fill up. It's also about the length of time my butt can take in the stock (although comfortable) saddle, before needing to stretch the old legs.
Hope this helps those of you who are considering the Voyager. If you purchase a 2012 or later as they become available, at least the heat issue will be resolved up front. If you find a left over, or used 2009-2011, get the KAMS Retrofit kit. You'll thank yourself for making the $400 plus installation investment. Good Luck!!

I have read alot about the voyager they are a nice bike for the highway but in stop and go traffic it will get hot thats why the kams kit on the 2012 and new voyager. I have a vaquero that the wife thinks is very comfortable but you have to spend some money to get the passanger comforts. I don't know why you said the victory xct is out but I think you need to take another looke at the victory cross country tourer. have them put a different seat on it for comfort and take it for a ride and yamaha is comming out with a 1300 delux tourer has a faring good touring bike and comfortabal also. check it out on ther web site just my 2cents worth. Thanks.
