Default Ladies and Gents I need your help.....

I am looking for new grips for my bike....right now I have the ISO ones with the pointy ends installed....the problem is the ISO grips are kind of bulky for my hands and I want to change them for something thinner.....but I dont want to loose the style. I want them pointy at the ends still.

So show me the grips you have and tell me if they are comfortable for your hands....especially if any of you out there have the XOPRO ones.....I was looking at the silver ones with flames and have pointy ends..the guy told me they measured 5 1/2 grip wise...but in the center is 4 1/2 inches....so, I was thinking about those...but not 100% sure.

So I would appreciate your advice!

I use plain old foam grips.

I had tried something over my regular grips, but they made the bars too fat around, and my hands hurt, so I now just replace my grips. The measurements you are quoting are bar length and have nothing to do with diameter of the grips, which is usually 1" to 1.5". You will want the smaller diameter. For correct length, you will have to measure your current grips.

Sorry I can't be more help to you specifically.

Hey Liz!....thanks for helping me out. That is the reason I am changing my grips...I have the ISO ones, but they seem to thick for my hands and when I ride for a while they start to hurt....so I was looking for smaller ones, but they all seem to be made for mens hands.

The measurement I was talking about came from the guy that works in XOPRODOC...I guess I have been the first one who asked him the diameter for the grip measurement...and he measured the ones I am intrested with a dental floss...and told me to go to my bike and do the same thing with a string...to put it around my grip and see what it gave me....it gave me 5 1/2 inches around....of course, that is grip wise.....I wonder what the original grips, all around measurments are???.....im sooo comfuse

Lets see what I decide on...just dont want to make the same mistake twice....

Once again...thanks for your help! You have been the only one who stopped by and open the door and looked inside to see what was going on

Hi Tely,
I'm glad my little bit of info helped. What you really need to know is the bar length, which you can measure with a regular tape measure, and the diameter, which is often in millimeters. If you had a Ninja, I could just give you that information. Is there someone else on the forum with a bike similar to yours that you can PM about this?

The other thing you might do is call Bike Bandit and see if they can come up with those measurements for you. They carry OEM and aftermarket parts and, though I haven't had to phone for info, they must have knowledgable staff who can help you figure out the correct size of grips to order.

Good luck! I know I was confused by this the first time I ordered new grips. Now I've gone through the process a couple of times, so I "know my numbers". The other thing I typically do when buying parts, even oil filters and plugs, is to write the brand and item number down in my Clymer's manual, so that I can reference this info easily the next time I have to shop for something.
