I was amazing, and it felt like I had achieved a huge accomplishment. Afterward my b/f said "I actually had fun riding with you, I felt like your protector or something." Well that was sweet. So all in all it was a GREAT day, like your day today-seeming it is your BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!! I love birthdays

Its funny you say that. That is exactly how I felt on my first ride. My hubby said the same thing to me. He also gives me tips everytime we ride together, which helps a lot. Well I am really glad you are having fun with it. You should come to Tampa and visit and ride with me and my sis.

Hey there, I am new rider as well, plan on buying a bike in September as a birthday gift to myself and hopefully getting the MSF course in late August. Currently, I ride with my b/f who has Yamaha R1 which kicks butt!!! Of course, we have the court date to prove just how fast it can go too |

Hi!
My name is Chantel and I have a Ninja 250. I live in Seattle and have been riding for a little over a year now. I would love to meet more girls in my area to ride with me! As it is now, I don't know any girls who ride so it's nice to join the forum and see others out there having a good time! |

Ok so I came on here a few months ago talkin about how I'm so excited to get a bike...etc.... Well I was talkin about getting the Suzuki GS500F but I'm for sure getting the 2006 Kawasaki ZZR600. So does any other ladies in here have this bike? Did any of you get it for your first bike?
I'm set to take the MSF class in one month!! I can't wait!! I got my motorcycle permit 2 weeks ago, but am yet to actually get on a bike, not as a passenger, and ride!! Soon though!! |

The ZZR-600 is a nice bike. I plan on getting one as my next bike either this year or March of next, it depends on finances. I don't think that it would be a good starter bike though. The 600 cc bikes are just too powerful these days.
The 05/06 ZZR-600 is basically an 01-02 ZX-6R with some retooling done to position it as a sport-tourer. It has a 32" seat height, weighs ~400 lbs wet, and has ~95 hp. It's a pretty powerful bike for a beginner. I would recommend spending some time on a smaller bike to start, such as a Ninja 250R or 500R. Both are excellent starter bikes and can be bought inexpensively if you go used. Neither has enough power to get you into trouble, but more than enough that you can zip around just fine It's no shame to start small. *Skill* is what allows you to ride the bigger bikes and you build a lot of skill on the smaller bikes. There's nothing wrong with outgrowing a bike in a year. You will have learned a lot and that skill will transfer to the bigger bikes. Good luck with your MSF class and let us know how it goes

I definitely agree! I bought a Suzuki SV650 for my first bike thinking that I'd be able to jump on it and go. After several frustrating months of trying to learn the bike (and dropping it many times) I sold it and bought a Ninja 250. However, I've known other people who had no problem starting with a bigger bike. I believe it also depends on how the bike is tuned and/or broke in.
My 250 is great to ride! I've had guys with GXR's ride it and were surprised that it had some 'get-up' to it. It's much cheaper and very forgiving when learning how to ride. |

I'm not going to get my bike until I've practiced on my friends' bikes a few times and feel comfortable. I guess this is how I look at it. I can't get my bike until I feel 100% comfortable riding it home from the dealership. So we'll see what happens! Yah I have 2 girl friends who started off on an R6. I have 2 other friends who started on CBR 600RR. I was dead set against getting anything more powerful then a 500, but several of my friends work at motorsports places and they all tell my the ZZR is a really good bike for me. I do have quite a bit of drag racing experience so I fully understand the concepts of manual transmissions. I also grew up riding horses so my sense of balance is excellent. I've put so much learning time into all this. BUT that doesn't stop me from being open minded and hearing what all you ladies have to say. |

Hello everyone.
I am a newbie biker and just bought a kawasaki 250R, I never learned how to ride a manual trans car, so I am learnign right now on a bike. Mountain biking is my favorite hobby and sales management is my proffession. And I seriously think I will break this bike before I even get close to 500miles break-in period. Nice to meet ya! |
