Give me a holler!

Hi Kim,

Welcome to the forum. I am not familiar with FL, VA or NC, so I could not give you any suggestions on where to go or eat etc. But, just wanted to say hi and have a great safe trip. My only advise would be to make sure you have warm, water proof gear and you should be very cozy on your Concours!

Stay safe and give us an update on your return.

Default first time

I am a first time rider, husband and I just bought Kawasaki Vulcan's mine a 500 and his a 900. I am a mom of three and have only been on my motorcycle twice and yes ladies the second time on it I had my first and hopefully last accident. I will say though that they do take really great care of you in the ICU and I get a custom paint job on my bike!!!! But now I am taking the rider safety course and learning so much from it. I can't wait to get back on my bike and ride again.

Hi gang. My name is Cindy. I am 49 and riding wickedly toward 50 in the fast lane. I have been riding my own ride for about 7 years or so. After the GA Motorcycle Safety school I started off with a Honda Magna and moved on to a 1100 Shadow Aero. It was lust at first sight the moment I laid eyes on the Vulcan Drifter 1500. I jumped it on and knew I had to make it mine. I dropped keys that day. Love riding the twisties of the North GA Mtns.

Hi, I'm Audrey. I just turned 40 . I am unmarried, but engaged and do not have any children. I teach high school math for a living. I bought my first ever street bike this summer, a Ninja 500r. The only other bike I've ever owned was a moped when I was aged 14-16. Have also ridden dirt bikes, but not for a long time. I finally decided to get into motorcycling due to high gas prices, but have discovered I really, really love it! I took the MSF last month and got my endorsement the next day. I have been commuting to work ever since (42 miles each way). I am happy to see a section for women riders since we all know we have less choices in gear, bikes that we fit on (at least I do since I'm inseam challenged!). Why is so much of our gear made in pink or blue? I look at this stuff and they look like the colors for newborn babies. I hope as more and more of us get into biking the manufacturers will cater to us more. Just wanted to say hi, and if there are other women in my area, I would love to have riding buddies. My fiance wants to get a bike eventually but who knows when that will be. I know him well enough to know if I was riding with men, he would get jealous.

Smile new to forum, not to riding

Hello. I started riding dirt bikes at 10 yrs old, trying to keep up with 3 older brothers. Raced straight track in my twenties for grins, but parked all bikes when I got married.

Now that my kids are teenagers, I've decided it's time get back on a bike and enjoy riding again. Just bought a Ninja 250 to warm up on since it's been a while, then plan to pass it to my son. Will probably move to a 650 next year.

I've worked managing computer systems and telecommunications for 18 years and live in sunny Tucson, Az where I can ride all year round.

Really glad to be back on two wheels

Hi Kim, how was you trip. Sorry I didn't see your post before your trip. I live in North GA and got my training wheels in the mountains of NC around Wayneville, Robbinsville and Cherokee. Hope you had a great time. The weather was awsome. Did you slay the Dragon on US 129?

I have been thinking of you recently, wondering how your life is. Please do fill me in.

I am up for Femmoto next year too. My friend, stylesavergirl went this year and said it was a blast! So we're up for next year's event.

Welcome back…you were missed.!

kawichic just sent you a myspace friend req. First advice for riding...take the MSF and get a bike that is comfortable...used 250 ninja is a great starter. It really sucks to drop your new ZX6R so start with one that wont break your heart when you drop it a few times

Sorry, V2K-.... didnt get the myspace friend request. Send it again and I'll approve it.

My BF suggested a used 250 for the exact same reason... dont break my heart when I dump it. lol

I'm planning to take the MSF course here in Maine with the first opening slot. Unfortunately, the near future classes are filled up, so it'll have to wait until winter is over. And I'm already antsy for spring. BF bought me a Heartbreaker textile armored jacket for my 30th b-day... now the itch is becoming stronger. Cant wait to put it on for a good reason!

hey ladies... i'm popping back in to say hello to all. new and oldheads.

been putting some miles on the ninja, and drooling over the 650's i see and pretty much any other bike on the road. getting used to the wind, but i know its time to move up when the wind gets forceful on turns that it never did before. been riding on the highways more, and more... and lets face it... the 250 is screaming at me. i hope that if all goes well... come jan / feb... i'll have my 650 (although the guy at the dealership is trying to talk me into a zzr600 ... i think but a 600 for sure) told him i wanted to get away from carbs, and into FI so i don't have to worry bout the warm up time (although i do look awfully cute while it does... lol).

but i just wanted to say hello... i've got almost 4000 miles under my belt... lots of fill ups, one oil change and i'm ready. any day its not raining... im riding. new winter jacket, long johns under my pants, glove liner inserts, and a head warmer. loving the weather, but thawing out is a b****

anyhows... see you all again later when i get a bit more free time in my schedule.

Hey Audrey. I'm picking on you because of the sad face at turning 40! I have to tell you that my 40s have been the best decade of my life so far! It's all in how you think about it!

Welcome to riding…it is the BEST! However, I would think twice about marrying that guy if he might be jealous over you riding with other guys. There's no place in a solid relationship for jealousy. Period. Although, if he's jealous over the fact that you are out riding and he hasn't gotten his act together to get a bike and get his endorsement, that's his problem, not yours. Sorry, guess I'm feeling a little feisty today!

Welcome to all the new lady riders. Be safe while having fun!

It does seem like it's not possible I could be 40. And taking up motorcycling at my age. I can tell other people think I've lost my mind or am having a mid-life crisis. That's okay, they can think what they want.

My bf can get jealous, and yes, I see that as a problem. It has improved a lot over the past year or so, but once in awhile I still see it. I'm in no hurry to get married at this point. Lately he's made a couple of remarks along the lines of "if I don't get a motorcycle, you'll leave me for a biker" and I'm not sure he was joking. I don't think he's going to get a bike but I think it's because he's scared and won't admit it. It's okay with me if he doesn't get one. It's definitely not for everyone. He found one that he said he wanted, then never called the bank for a loan and still hasn't even gotten his temps. I've just decided not to mention it anymore. I'm still looking for a riding buddy though. I contacted a few clubs but none of them seemed thrilled to have me. One was a women's group but they all ride cruisers. Another said, well, we had one woman contact us, but... I assured them I wasn't a squid and wear all my gear all the time but they seemed suspicious of a 40 year old newbie with a sport bike. Eventually I'll find someone, I'm sure.
