Hey sakigirl, i have the same tank bag in black. i noticed that i was starting to get scratches, so i started lifting each magnet off seperately, instead of just pulling the bag off. All the scratches stopped for me

I've heard you can put plastic cling wrap on the tank right where the magnets touch and it won't scratch the paint any more.

Wax the tank. Wax it again. Then wax it one more time. Multiple coats of wax will protect the tanks paint finish.

In 1980 I had a then brand new Corvette. LOVED that car. At any rate, I really couldn't afford the car and it took everything I had to make the payments - heck, I was only 24 at the time. So, to compensate for not being able to afford to buy gas after making the payments, I spent time with my prized possession by waxing and washing the car.

Well, being somewhat anal at the time, I went a bit overboard - or so I thought. I washed the car every other day and waxed it every other weekend. No lie - you can ask JoyRider!

Anyway. One day the dog - who was tethered to the garage door, saw a cat jump up on the car's hood. Being the great watch dog she was, she decided to forcefully remove the cat from the car (before any damage occurred you understand). At any rate, Misty - the 65 lb. Siberian Husky - protected the car with all her might by jumping on the hood of the Vette and clawing her way to the top in an attempt to "get the cat". Well, the chain holding the dog was just a bit short, so the cat sat on the roof panel and watched as the dog clawed and clawed and clawed the hood. Evidently this was all in an effort to gain traction on the waxed hood of the Vette.

So, I come out to see what all the commotion is about and darn near had a heart attack. The hood of the car was in shambles with scratches over nearly every inch of hood.

Or so I thought.

Remember the wax? Well, it seems a good bath with a strong detergent soap (like Lemon Joy) removes the wax completely. And in this case revealed a pristine hood!

Point of course is that the scratches were in the wax and not the paint.

Wax on!

Hey Ang,

I just got some of that stuff and put it on my ZX6R tonight. It was really easy to get on (took less than 10 minutes) and it looks perfectly clear. I have the stomp traction pads on the sides of my tank so I only used the Tankslapper stuff on the front of the tank where I lean against. I really like that it doesn't hide the paint and that it's removable. Definitely worth checking out in my opinion.

I just noticed the same thing on my tank on Sunday. I clean the bike with plexus all the time but have not waxed it. I'll do that after Femmoto.

I also realize that I have been pulling my bag off or adjusting it on the tank lately. I normally pull the bag off by lifting the magnet points first. It is not hard to do I just have to remember to do it!

That tank protector looks great too. I have also read that clear window "tinting" works. I have not found clear in a store. Buying it pre cut is probably the best way to go. Heck I should do all three.

Thanks for asking the question and thanks for all the great replies.
