When you are not alone, and riding staggered, you are presenting a "pair" of headlights that looks more like a cage. That registers and they "see" you.

The single headlight of a solo rider doesn't register, and they can look right at you and not "see" you.

Probably none of them knew you are a woman. It happens to me occasionally.

Okay Rich...usually you know everything and I would bow to you for answers....but this time....I don't know......
I just got the Cobra light bar, so I would hope they see more than one headlight. Next, I asked for my new Kawsaki Joe Rocket jacket for Christmas because I wanted to look like a girl on a bike!!!! The jacket has floral patterns and fits my shape better (and more snug) than a straighter type "male" jacket. If they couldn't tell I was a female, my feelings would be hurt

Having said that, I didn't think knowing I was a female rider meant treating me rudely on the roads!!!

tely, THANK YOU!
I am happy to see that I am not the only one that feels like I am treated differently!
I get the stares too, but frankly I don't mind those! I have guys stop right along side of me at a light and stare....the ones that ride right beside me on the highway and stare....the ones at the gas station that peer around their vehicles while pumping gas to watch me....all those are harmless (usually) and I actually get a kick out of it! When they start endangering my life on a bike though, then I get mad!!!

I don't know Cheri. But from what you describe seems like a normal days ride to me. I have been around a lot of cagers that act like that. But from the sound of the guy in the mini van yeah he was being an A!! on purpose.

For me though. When I see a girl on a bike I think dam! thats sexy! I date a woman who rides and I just love to follow her when we're out riding!!!

Ride like the world wants to kill you. I do. Glad you got out some.

I too always take what you post as gospel Rich, BUT, I can't say I agree with your logic on this one. I don't know about Chino Ca, but up here, there are thousands of bikers in summer (very touristic for bikers) some ride in groups others who ride solo, and I'm pretty sure that cagers see lone bikers with one headlight pretty well, especially if you ride with your high beam on during the day. So the people who live here are use to bikers and usually give them the same respect that bikers give them. Maybe in California cagers have a different opinion about bikers, male or female, so I don't know. CheriAnn makes a good point with her light bar comment. It unfortunately hasn't made a difference regarding being seen. I think a light bar is more suited for night driving than anything else. I never used mine during the day and just keep my high beam on, and have rarely had problem being seen, although it does happen on occasion. It also happens when I'm driving my cage, in fact, come to think of it, I've been cut off more frequently when driving my car, than I have on my bike. (probably cause I do more miles per year my car) Also, if you're logic is correct, why is it that trains only have one light in the front ? That said, they do have one heck of a loud horn that I wouldn't mind having on my bike lol. Anyway, this is just my 2¢ worth, and I'm not looking to pick an argument with anyone (especially you Rich). T'is just an opinion for what it's worth, which is to say, it's prolly not worth a thing.

Unfortunately Cheri, stupidity does not discriminate...They are all out there...Met a female rider who went to my local shop and was friendly to her...No one else seemed to talk to her...She seemed nice...People should be nice and this world would not be in the mess it is.

Thank you for the replies! I just know that when I ride with Chaz, I hardly ever see a vehicle cut us off, or act rude. That's why it surprised me so much when I was by myself

Not to burst the bubble, but, don't we all stare at bikes regardless of who is riding them? Except in your case, Cheri. Then it's not the bike people are ogling.

That's true! Every time I see a bike I strain my neck to turn and watch it!!! The difference is that I don't stop directly next to the biker and stare at him/her

Hmmmm. Well, in that case, disregard what I said previously and my new reply. I look at ALL women regardless if they are walking, riding, or driving. Dirty old man.

I have a whole new respect for now!!!! You may be a dirty old man, but at least you are an honest one!!!!

I mentioned earlier in the thread that I don't mind the stares at all!!! I have feelings!!!! It makes me feel fantastic when a guy stares and smiles at me!!!! Nothing wrong with that at all!!!!

I don't mind the stares, either. But one look at me and they're wondering if I'm going to beat the crap out of them or not. So they don't look too long.

The light bar helps, a LOT, but i still have people cut me off occasionally.
High beam also helps a lot, but it still happens and we all have to stay alert.
Even with the 3 lights on with the bar, they are still not separated by 5-6 feet like they are with a car or a truck.

I doubt they could see your jacket behind the windshield... especially with the lights, all they can see is an outline... if they see anything.

Quickest way to blind someone? Put a windshield in front of them.

Lately since I am paranoid, I have been driving with the same kind of face you mentioned Tina! " Beat the crap out of you face"...so they dont stare to long.....lol

And is like Cheri said, I dont mind the kind looks I get, because a few times Ive been thrown kisses and whistles here and there and it feels nice....even the stares from women with a smile on their face when they look at me and see that i am a women and it surprices them in a nice kind of way... those stares feel kind of nice too.....

It's my badazzbiker face! I may be a portly, middle-aged woman when I get off the bike, but on it, I'm a 20 year old hellion!

It's spring (almost), and the roads are chock-full of Chuckleheads.
Proceed with caution.

When this happens to me I call it a bad day for riding. Some days are better than others but I have had some days like you mention above. And I am not of the female persuasion so I don't think it is a male female thing just a bike rider thing if that makes any sense. Maybe a full moon don't know ride like they are trying to kill you and use what you learned at the bike safety classes.

Ohhhhhh yessssssssss they do Cheri. They treat us all about the same, very little respect.

There are just idiots out on the road. I've almost gotten taken out several times this week. Two days ago, I looked my mirror and saw a luxury car filling up my mirror more than he should be, I saw him when his tires started screeching and I am glad I had 125 cubic inches of motor to blast forward, or he may have taken me out from behind. I just got a little wave and smile like, Oooops, didn't see ya. Wow, me on a V2K, and ya can't see me right in FRONT OF YOU??? Yeah Right..

Several days before that, some older couple in a Van, waiting in the median, to get into traffic, I'm in the fast lane, and they just seem to wait until I was on top of them to go. That was very close also.

Then a week ago, I had a lady just change lanes, the only problem was I was IN THE LANE at the time.

Personally, I don't think they look to see if it's a Man or Woman. A biker is a biker, and while I don't personally believe they just do these things cuz we are bikers, they just don't look, don't see, or are just really bad drivers.

Just my .02
