Unhappy Female Riders treated worse?

Okay, most of the time I ride with hubby or friends. When I ride by myself it is usually locally to a store or to fill up my bike with gas. I see the occassional jerks on the road, but not very many that treat us badly.

Well, over the weekend we had some nice weather on Friday and Sunday. Hubby was doing remodeling work in the house with my brother, so I just wasn't going to let the opportunity pass me by!!! Both days I got in some quality riding by myself.

I was amazed at the amount of disrespect I got on the roads!!!
Many times I had guys in their pickup trucks cutting over into my lane directly in front of me!!!! I even had a guy waiting to pull out onto the highway and seemed to wait until I got close and he could see me, then he decided to pull right out on me (and I was traveling about 60 to 65 MPH!!!) I don't know if it it was because I was a female or because I was a biker by myself!!!!!
Does this happen to any other ladies?

PS - I'll even come clean here....one guy pulled over on me in a minivan and cut me off! I blew my Stebel horn and pulled over into the other lane to pass. He did one of those numbers where he suddenly speeds up, so....I sped up too!!! I think I fooled him when I left him behind!!!! I took my bike to the highest speed I have done so far, 85 MPH by the speedo, which is really closer to 80 MPH, right?

I don't know. I have heard lots of stories about problems with cages while riding, even to the extent of people trying to hurt a bike rider. I can say that it's never happened to me, except perhaps accidentally. I've never had anyone intentionally do anything against me while riding. Perhaps I've just been lucky.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to hurt a biker, let alone a female biker. I think people are just really bad drivers, and when you're alone riding, they really just don't look well enough to see you.

People are also very distracted by multitasking while driving. I wouldn't take it personally Cheri, but I would take it as a lesson that you really need to watch out when riding, and even more so when alone.

I've only had one incident of being harassed while riding alone, and that was by a couple of teenagers in a small car. They wouldn't let me change lanes to get off of a ramp. Every time I speeded up, they floored it, and when I slowed down they did too. They were laughing, and not angry. I missed my exit, but I just left them in the dust, and got off at the next one.

Sorry to enter a discussion in the lady's room, but I saw the title, and thought I better see what was up.

I'm sure that's the case. There are a lot of people that wake up on the wrong side of the bed, and then get behind the wheel of a car/truck. Go figure.

You probably pay no attention to them when you're in your car, and you feel more vulnerable when alone on the bike. I always do. I notice bad drivers more when it's just me out there. I do think they pay more attention when bikes are in a pack.

Maybe bikers look more dangerous in a group

Knock knock....U ladies decent ????
I'll make this quick in case Ishmael is right.
I've never ever had anybody try anything like that on me when I was alone. If ever it does happen, I have my cell phone rigged to call the police by just saying police into the phone. I would do my best to stick with the cage until the cops arrived, and then I would press charges. If I couldn't use my cell for whatever reason, I would simply just boot it and get as far away as I can from them as fast as I can. Ya never know who you're dealing with today, so no sense being a hero, especially a dead hero.
I'm so sad/mad to hear that you were treated this way CheriAnn. Next time, make it a point to get there license plate number if you can, and report them.
Yikes, I've overdone my welcome here in the ladies room. Drive safe CheriAnn and most of all, drive like you're invisible or defensively if you prefer.

You know what....that makes a ton of sense!!!!
In the cage I'm not as worried about what others do (within reason). On the bike by myself I am probably watching things 200% closer! Of course, that's a good thing to do on a bike!!!!

I still find it surprising, though, that some people can be so insensitive to bikers

Dudster! There are no bad girlie cooties in here!!! No need to run

Unfortunately, I don't have my cell phone rigged like that. It's stashed in the windshield bag until I park the bike. I'll just have to try and avoid them in the future. I really shouldn't have pushed it with that guy in the minivan, but when I went to pass him and looked over, he gave a nasty little smirk that I reacted to.....*Bad Cheri, Bad Cheri*

I ride alone a lot, Cheri, and I've never had experiences like that. Sorry that it happened to you.

I wouldn't take it personally, Cheri. I don't look like a woman on my bike, and they're always trying to run me over!

I still may attach a paintball gun to my front fender and let 'er rip when I need to!

I dont know if it is coincidence or what...but I feel the same as you.......alot of time when I go riding, it seems that either they just stand there when is their turn to keep going,....cut infront of you, I dont know if it is because they are in a hurry or just want to get real close to you, to see if your a women....and one time I almost brought someone home with me!, the guy follow me all the way back to my house! and this was an old men that was going to turn right and when he stood next to me on the red light, he just started staring at me and follow me all the way! Another time I was standing on a 4 way stop and my bike stalled and I gave the " go ahead and take my turn" to a pick up that was standing to my left on the intersection...and the men just nodded his head and told me he was going to wait for me!....and got so nervous and ****ed off at the same time would they do the same s--- to a men??? I know it must be starnge for them seeing a women rider, but dont they know, that if they are doing it in a nice kind of way..it makes us even more nervous?
