Here are the pics of my helmet and NEW STICKERS!!!
looks like the silver reflective women belong on the helmet. now that i've got it done, i kinda wish i had bought the red reflective tape to put behind it then the women on top so they stand out a bit more. well its not permanent so i can always go back and get it or find something to color over some silver with and make a block of it. ![]() ![]() ![]() and one of these on each side ![]()

Personally, I've never been mistaken for a guy on my bike. I'm new yes, but still. I'd actually rather that though. Every time I go out, I get boys honking and trying to show off or catcalling me. It gets really annoying because I'm just out to have fun and they're all machismo.
Being mistaken for a guy when riding is amazing. Most other men on the road will try to show off and compete with another guy. When you get off your bike and they see your a chick?? Well, the look on their faces is enough. |

umm well okay. i would never assume you were a guy either, i'm sure in your gear its fitted as tight as possible so its never to be mistaken to be a guy.
but on the good note.... went out riding yesterday with the new stickers and got plenty of nods from a lot of ladies. STICKERS ROCK!!!

I want one to put on mine now, plus it'll flow with my helmet too...Here's a pic my girl took of me riding next to her and yes everyone thinks i'm a guy until i take off my helmet and toss my short hair a bit...

i got the reflective rainbow from the local pride shop about 30 mins away. well not local, but in the next town south of me. was only a buck for it. the silver reflective tape i bought at walmart and then proceeded to cut and design myself. i think i'm going to stop at walmart on the way home and get the red tape as well. maybe see if they got some orange, i want to brighten up the Univ. of tennessee sticker i have that i wanna put on my helmet at well.

Ladies,
I want to chime in a bit. I get the ‘Sir’ thing a lot. Although less now that I am chubby again. I like being unknown on my bike. I love getting a wave or thumbs up from other riders. It is all about being on the bike! I get smiles and weird looks from peeps whenever I stop at a restaurant with a group of riders, all women or mixed. It used to bug me years ago.... you know the name calling... Now I just ignore them or smile back to them and go on my way. Life is too short to worry about what others think! I am glad to see this kind of thread. I too am "family" and I get tired of the comments women tend to get from the general public and occasionally from other riders. Keep on riding sisters!

i'm so glad its kinda stopped for a brief spell. but i spend more time focusing on the road, but when i stop i still get those 'stares', but once they take a glance at my stickers they go from disgusted looks to "well HELLOOOO thereeeee" looks. i just give off my killer grin, nod and keep stepping with a lil bit more bounce. i love my stickers!!!

i love signalling to other riders. i'll throw my two fingers out or just one... or i'll even try to nod my head in their direction. i get this giddy feeling inside when they throw it back at me. i find myself often saying... "hey buddy" outloud... strange cause its not like they can hear me. LOL

We old guys , we know. We have "chic radar". As far as I am concerned, as far as beauty and femininity goes, nothing is hotter that a "chick on a bike". Just my 2 cents, but remember, I'm and old creepy guy. LOL

I actually had a car full of teenager girls cat-calling me at a stop light the other day. I got some whistles and "hey baby, nice bike".
I was wearing black jacket, full face black helmet and gray jeans, so I understand, but at 5'1 and 115 lbs, I would be a pretty tiny guy. I wanted to flip up my face shield and say something about having a vagina... but I was too busy being a newb and not stalling out at the light! |

LOL .... ha ha ha ha that's funny. i would have had to find my camera to take a picture of their faces after you said that.
that would have been an instant classic!! don't worry about that stalling at the light, in a parking lot just practice starting and stopping. i've gotten real good at getting to stop signs and slowing to an almost stop then going.

People all seem surprised to discover I'm a woman too when I take off my helmet. My hair is shoulder length and I have huge upper female parts but I don't think they're seen so well under a heavy leather jacket. I also don't wear pink gear. I have a red bike and I like the matching red and black gear. Even my bf says I look like a small 16 year old boy in my gear. The other day some punk was leaning out the window of his 80's Mustang at a red light, yelling to me "You wanna race? C'mon, let's race". I'm sure he had no idea I was a 40 year old woman. He also couldn't have been from around here because he wanted to race directly into a little town with only 300 people but 4 cops! This is a town where you get a ticket for 37mph in a 35 zone.
I have only seen 2 other women riding bikes around here, but I don't fret it. I'm not the most feminine woman. I also love tractors and have 2 of them. And, I have a big Dodge Ram pickup. I am comfortable with who I am and don't fret it much when people look surprised. I once had a Ford F250 Super Duty truck and people would actually come up to me in parking lots and say, "Wow, we never expected to see a little woman get out of that truck." I don't know why not... lot's of women have trucks around here. It's farm country and many of us own horses, which requires one.
