Default Ranting...

I have only been riding a little over two years but yesterday was the most scared I have been while riding. I was almost rearended....twice......within a half a mile....by the same driver!!

This woman(sorry ladies it could have been anyone) was driving her BMW x-over(if they still call them that), talking on the PHONE, obviously not paying attention. We were in a 35 mph zone on a side street. The car in front of me slowed to turn and the next thing I knew she was on my rear end! I gave her the benefit of the doubt - we all make mistakes. We come to a RED light where we both intended to make a right hand turn. I did not know she was turning because she did not signal. I signaled but remained in about the center of the lane. This an intersection where the edge of the lane is marked but the pavement extends out well beyond the line for a potential 3rd lane. As I begin to move forward to make my turn I quickly check my rear view to see this woman pulling up next to me! I stop and look in her direction and flag her on by. By this time I want her from behind me. She flagged me and I protested. I flagged her again. She finally went around me and turned. Naturally I followed her. I believe she thought I was going to try and run her down or something because we made a couple of turns together. Finally she turned off.

Ride safe out there folks.

Thanks for letting me rant....

if someone gets real close to me, I slow way down just to **** them off. It happened when I was pulling the boat on Sunday. I was going 30 in a 45 just to teach them a lesson.

I still would like someone to tell me what people talk about that's so important they need to put everyone's life at risk. If it's so important...pull over...or is it not important enough to pull over?????????

That was my first thought. The other thing that crosses my mind is that there are just too many crazies out there and next guy you **** off because he ****ed you off may do something REALLY stupid. I had the same reaction to the other related thread that's just been posted "Interesting Reaction".

It just ain't worth it.

And next time, it may be you.

No one is immune to vehicular stupidity. The best we can hope for is that when we make our mistake, someone else isn't making one at the same time.

You did exactly the right thing.

Better to yield than have someone who isn't paying attention in a position where you can't control your space around them. Ahead of you, you can leave plenty of space to get away from them.

Just like following the speed limit, right of way isn't always followed the way law prescribes. The only thing you can do is make sure you aren't in a position where someone failing to give it won't kill you.

This was the second time I yielded to a follower, but this was the worst.

Honestly, I'd be happy if those people wouldn't reproduce in the first place. Irresponsible people only produce increasingly more irresponsible people as additional levels of common sense become lost in translation with each generation.

LOL!

...says the guy with the giant sized link to his blog in his signature...

I'm kidding, of course. It just struck me as funny to see those things together...

A couple of days ago, I took my ninja out for probably the last time before I confirm the sale. I was riding especially cautious since I would hate to dump it before getting a buyer for her...

Sitting at a light, the suv behind me, driver not paying attention, pulled up VERY close to my back tire. So close that I quickly realize how hard I was clenching my teeth, thinking, "If you hit her before I can collect the money, I will hunt you down..."

I twisted on the bike's seat and turned around to "face" him and threw up a hand as if to say, "what the hell?" He shrugged. Okay, could have been a mistake on his part. But after we went through the traffic circle, him following VERY closely in his suv, and we stopped at the next light, he was sooooooo close, I could have reached out and touched his hood. (I also stay slightly to the left side of the lane.)

I turned only slightly, enough to see the color in his eyes, flipped up my visor and shouted through his open window, "Do we need to have a conversation?" He grinned like an idiot, obviously feeling like a stooge, and shook his head, then I think he said "sorry" if I read his lips correctly.

People are just stupid. I vent in here ALOT. Glad you weren't hit though.
