I like this one, at least it's not green or yellow or rainbow and it has stuff I wish the one I had, had everything this one does.

I like balance and geometry.
What I don't get about the exhaust set-up is that it's a 4-2-1-2 on my 2nd Gen and it looks to be same on this 3rd Gen what's up with that!? Why not 4-2? And as for symmetry, I didn't realize that the engine and everything related to it is offset 18mm(originally had 28mm) to the right! I read it in a Z1000 forum when I was looking for sliders and it's been driving me crazy ever since! My bike is so asymmetrical.

Then you haven't seen what they did for the last year of the 2nd Gen Z1000, did you? Look at this disaster (I'll take the new scheme, thank you):

I don't know what they were thinking when they did that scheme unless they were trying to transition over to this new bike. I mean, how do you go from solid black in '07 to solid white in '08 to that mess in '09 unless they were tryting to get us acquainted to the new bike?

+1 on the balance and geometry. That's one reason I went back to the stock exhuast on my 87. Didn't like the 4-1 aftermarket. I like the balanced look on both sides.

Not sure I really like this new Z. Maybe if they did a tourer version, like you said, that would help.

I'm curious, what do you mean when you say, "tourer version"? Do you mean full fairings including a full top fairing with a tall shield? With the new Z1000 breaking $10k naked, how much would a fully faired Z1000 cost? I'd get a C14 instead.

I don't think you're the only one, I've read others without good taste make the same comment.I didn't care for the muffs the first time I looked at it, but compared to some that have the big round ones I liked it more. Many will change out the cans anyway, on most any bike, for one reason or another. I didn't like the seat color of my 07 model. I colored it black. Never got into racing or I would have gotten something smaller, probably a Yam. sport bike.

That was a response to another comment that CTRider made:

I love my Ninja, but sometimes I wish I could hang 'real' bags on it for traveling. The soft bags I can find for it are small and wouldn't carry enough for a real vacation. I may have to look for something a little bigger with bags one day. I know the 87 ZX750R was called a sport-tourer. I wonder if there were ever 'touring bags' for it.

I like all the z1000s and thats probably what Id go back to if I ever went sport bikes but I agree on the exhaust. I really like the shotgun exhaust of the older ones. It was probably one of the things that drew me the most.
