The Nomad motorcycle tent. Pricey at $399 but interesting.

What's the extra room for? So you can sleep next to your bike?

Those are cool and all, but for the money, I'll stick with my little dome tent, and the bike can sleep outside...

Get yourself a Hennessy Hammock, and never look back. They are the ultimate 'light weight' tent. All you need are two trees to set one up, you're off the ground, and it weighs a fraction of the weight of a normal tent. I have been researching tents for the last two months, looking for one that would work for long motorcycle trips. It is the one that I decided in the end to purchase. It leaves a lot more room (both physically and load wise) on the motorcycle for other gear.

The Hennessy Hammock is awsome. I have not taken a bike trip yet with the hamock, but have done many back country hikes. With the asymetrical design of the hammock you can sleep on your side. But yes the draw back is you need two trees/posts. But it beats the heck out of sleeping on the ground with a rock in your back.

This is an ideal set up for the bikers wanting to travel light.

For backpacking, I definitely see the advantage. I could see if on a bike if you're where you can get to some trees, I've managed to get my sleeping back, air matress, and pillow (which is really just a fleece sleeping back from walmart I fold up) to all roll up together into one. and that and my tent work great for me...

    Good find though!

    Improvise!

    Improvise!!

Here's a couple of pics of it in normal use on Adventure Rider's website.

And by nature of design, you can sleep perfectly FLAT in these hammocks. When you get into the entrance from the bottom, you move your body to an angle. This allows you to lay flat and turn over during the night. Mr. Hennessy has improved the design as well to use in temps below 32F/0C by designing a closed cell foam pad that is combined with a space blanket to reflect heat back to the occupant. You just place it under the hammock between the hammock and the optional lower cover.

I don't intend to sleep anywhere that cold, so the stock hammock will suffice for me for the immediate future. But I can always add that stuff later on if needed. The more reviews that I read on outdoor websites about this item, the more raves I see. Overwhelmingly positive reviews everywhere I look.
